The Wii U game pad tilts just like the steering wheel playing mario kart. That's gonna exist with the switch too I'm guessing. So I guess you are out in switch. I doubt the mario Kart wheel is going away. Also I'm not sure they can make another mario galaxy game without using the controllers shown in your link. I guess they could but it wouldn't really be galaxy. Every Wii U game I play I use the pro controller. It's very similar to an Xbox controller.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Did the Wii-U fully do away with motion controls? They still had Wii-U motion controllers, did they not? Wasn't there some type of tilt control with the Wii-U gamepad? Is there a regular traditional NES/SNES/PS3/XBOX type controller that will work will ALL Wii-U games?

Does the Pro controller support any motion function whatsoever or is it completely absent of any tilt, arm waving, etc? I also read that not all games supports the Pro controller which is why I sort of game up on the Wii U when it was on a major price break.
So there wasn't a way to disable the tilt? One couldn't steer their vehicle with simply the "d-pad" or "analog stick" or whatever was on the nintendo control pad?
At around the 12:14 mark (Wii) in the Mario Galaxy video below, the on screen instructions show a hand waving the "control stick" to get mario to spin. I'm thinking simultaneously pressing two buttons, or simply double tapping one button would work. There's got to be a way to implement moves without the use of motion controls, unless of course you're referring to some other part of the control scheme absolutely requiring motion control input.
Note: I've never play Mario Galaxy, so you may have to be very specific about the game control mechanics.

Mario Kart on the NES didn't require motion control for a racing game, unless there is something completely different for the revived Mario Kart that requires the gamepad tilt or wheel.

I don't believe they really did away with them but all I know is all the games I bought for my Wii U were just regular controlled games, either using the Wii U pad or a regular controller. I think they just quit having the games utilize the motion based controls, or quit publicizing/requiring the user to use them in that way.
I guess, my real concern is this. If all Nintendo Switch games have the option to completely disable all motion controls and the gamer still has the ability to access all control functions, then I'll still be all in on the Switch. If I even need to do a single thing using any motion control function, that could very, very, very well be a deal breaker. But we'll see.
But obviously (for me personally), the best thing is for the Nintendo Switch to completely do away with any motion controls.
The first time my eyes feasted on the Nintendo Switch trailer, I was definitely all in seeing as how everything was pretty much traditional sit and play. I didn't see anyone waving their arms. They were just zombies staring at the screen, and immersed. That's the experience I want with the Nintendo Switch.

Oh it's not required. I don't use the tilt controls at all. I use the pro controller while playing mk8. You can choose whatever method you prefer. The pro controller is just a controller. Just like the dual shock and Xbox controller.
I use it for every game I play on Wii U. Tropical freeze, mario 3D, hyrule warriors, kart etc.Last edited by ricky24; 01-05-2017, 04:14 PM.Comment

I know the following is only from one reviewer, there's also a few others that mentioned the controller not being compatible with certain games and which is why I kind of just said "forget it ... I'll wait until Nintendo comes out with a system that comes equipped with a traditional controller that will work will all games." Also read some place where player 1 must use the gamepad, or maybe I read wrong (this was last year or something, don't recall exactly where I read that).

I was so disappointed that this doesnt work with most games, and some of the ones it does work with it has to be used for player 2. even then it feels like a cheap 3rd party controller. Unfortunately it is the best controller for the wii u so i have to recommend it."Last edited by strawberryshortcake; 01-05-2017, 04:59 PM.Comment

Yeah I mean it works with literally every game I play. So I kinda have to disregard that review. The player 2 thing is not true either as far as I know. I use it as player 1 with multiple kart players.Last edited by ricky24; 01-05-2017, 05:06 PM.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
We'll hopefully have confirmation one way or the other in regards to motion controls. From what's been reported, Switch is said to have no motion controls whatsoever. Hopefully, that's true.Comment

Unless I am misunderstanding what you mean by "motion controls," handhelds can easily have them. My Vita has motion control (you mean like tilting the device to move things, right?)Comment

Nah. When I think motion controls I think waving hands and legs like was mentioned earlier.Comment
