Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I wish I could justify the cost. But I'll need to wait on a deal in the far out future."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Yeah I know what you meant and I can see your point but I was just playing Devils Advocate. One game that comes to mind that reminds me of Zelda is Darksiders. But then I have limited experience with that game so maybe its not as much like Zelda as I thought just from playing it for a bit.Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Not really, because you have to do things in a certain order, and you can't access certain parts of the map until you've beaten certain dungeons and acquired certain items. So the past Zelda games have been linear titles masked as open world.Last edited by rsnomar05; 01-20-2017, 04:17 PM.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
What I mean by open world (when I use it) is the real life tasks Link will be participating in. Having to gather items, cook them to gain abilities or health is very different.
But make no mistake, there will still be areas we cannot access until we get the hook."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. I'm nearly positive it's going to be the same in this Zelda.

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I agree, but what I gathered from all the previews was that there wouldn't be an order. In other words, if you couldn't access an area because you needed an item, you could go and get that item. You wouldn't have to wait four dungeons to get the Pegasus Boots to charge through a large rock. You could go to that dungeon immediately, get the Pegasus Boots, and charge through the rock."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
IF Nintendo released all those games how many of them would you personally buy?
Im getting the switch for zelda alone since there is absolutely NO game like to anywhere else at all.
I personally want only the most crucial Nintendo ips and i look to ps4 and xbox one for their most crucial games and i look to the system offering the best performance when it comes to multi platform games
Agree in regards to only wanting Nintendo IP's and here's an argument I just literally had with my friend. I believe that if Nintendo was to have a console that was equal to the PS4 or better in order to get full third party support and have the best version of those multi-platform games and had online service as good as PS4 or better like Xbox One, with their IP's, Nintendo could easily blow Sony and Microsoft away. My friend disagreed with me and thinks that no one is surpassing Sony. Main disagreement was between Sony IP's and Nintendo IP's. He prefers Sony's IP's as do I but unlike him, I believe that Nintendo IP's would easily outsell Sony IP's not only because of the Nintendo fans that would buy them but also because of all the other gamers who would buy them but don't now simply because the consoles they release just aren't up to par with the top two.
Best performance for multi-platform games is PS4 majority of the time just like Xbox 360 had the best performance majority of the time. If Nintendo had this, online, a trophy/achievement system, etc., I think that they would get back to being number one in this industry. My friend doesn't think that this will ever happen because well, it's Nintendo. Nintendo are what they are and will most likely never ever change. I'm hoping that in my life time, they do at least once just so I can them being the best one last time.
Anyway, as for what games I would buy, a decent amount of them actually. Zelda is a lock. Mario is a lock. Project Octopath Traveler is a lock if it's similar to I Am Setsuna. SM3DW would be a lock. DKCTF would be a lock. Captain Toad would probably be a lock.
Would have to look up a Wii U list of Nintendo exclusives to know for sure. Excluding POT (lol), it would be pretty much a guarantee of five pre-orders and pick up on release day purchases.
If you meant the other games you listed in a previous post, majority of them, I have no interest in. Splatoon 2, Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros. don't interest me at all.
I bought an Xbox One (yes, it's four times, I know) for Ryse: Son of Rome, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Quantum Break, Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, Ori and the Blind Forest and eventually State of Decay 2. These seven games easily justify the purchase of the console and yes, all four times. LOL.
So if I could get three Switch games and those main two Wii U ports, I would then say that buying the console would be justified even though im not happy that the starting cost is more than what either PS4 or Xbox One cost me.Comment

I agree with you.
Three performance equal consoles. Third party support. Nintendo exclusives make gamers seriously consider buying it over a Sony or Microsoft unit.
I love Sony exclusives. But Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Kirby, Pokémon, makes it a real competition."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Zelda is still great, I know that but the time for it being one of a kind ended a long time ago. To get lost in the world of Hyrule for the first time since Link to the Past will give me the same awesome feeling that I get from any other open world game that I get lost in. In other words, it will be awesome.Comment

It's crazy really. the more i think about it. There shouldnt be this divide or eevn worry on our parts. Nintnedo showed what they showed us. To be honest the ONLY current gen system that really IS doing almost everything WE want IS PS4. But that partially due to Sony going out and talking with gamers and game site reviewers on what THEYD want to see ina systems functionaility. it just REALLY helps that it can power all the new game engines out there that dev now use.
Nintendo? Is again left in the dust having to do "smart " programming with what they have
But i have a bigger problem now
What amiibo do i want with The Breath of The Wild? All of em look awesome but what do the new 6 ones do in game?Brand New Tomba Slider sets ready for Next Gen Versions of NBA,Madden and Fifa Stay Tuned...Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I think Nintendo is feeling burnt on doing an "arms race" with Sony and Microsoft. Didn't they do that with the Gamecube? Wasn't that machine technically similar (or better in some spots) to the PS2 and original XBox? (I never had one, but I feel like I've read and seen that in various places over the years). The small disc size and capacity was what held off some 3rd parties.
Nintendo also refuses to sell its hardware at a loss like Sony and Microsoft to be made up with software. It's just who they are, and that's fine.
I still admit, I am excited for this launch.XBox Gamertag: djbeth77
