Perhaps but watching a walkthrough on Breath of the Wild, I haven't seen anything that I haven't already done the last two generations whether it be hack and slash gameplay, exploration, puzzles, scavenging, cooking, mini map, towers, etc. Outside of the visual art style, it will still be just another open world adventure game. With that said, I am looking forward to getting lost in the world of Hyrule. As for past games, my friend says that Ocarina of Time is still the best Zelda game and if it hasn't been surpassed yet twenty years later, then it most likely never will be which is fine but that also tells me that the reason for that is that unlike back then, what's being done now has already been done hundreds if not thousands of times. But we'll see.

It's crazy really. the more i think about it. There shouldnt be this divide or eevn worry on our parts. Nintnedo showed what they showed us. To be honest the ONLY current gen system that really IS doing almost everything WE want IS PS4. But that partially due to Sony going out and talking with gamers and game site reviewers on what THEYD want to see ina systems functionaility. it just REALLY helps that it can power all the new game engines out there that dev now use.

Nintendo? Is again left in the dust having to do "smart " programming with what they have

But i have a bigger problem now

What amiibo do i want with The Breath of The Wild? All of em look awesome but what do the new 6 ones do in game?
I'm aware that the Bravely Default team is behind POT which is why im interested in it. Sony is hitting every aspect more than the other two but they have room for improvement as well. I just think that if Nintendo was to stop trying all this gimmicky crap and just focus on the hardware and software plus be willing to take a loss on the hardware, they would be much better off in the future.

If Switch fails then it will be time for Nintendo to seriously consider going third party simply because their next console would just be another gimmick based system and as has been proven time and time again, gimmicks don't work.

Wasn't that machine technically similar (or better in some spots) to the PS2 and original XBox? (I never had one, but I feel like I've read and seen that in various places over the years). The small disc size and capacity was what held off some 3rd parties.

Nintendo also refuses to sell its hardware at a loss like Sony and Microsoft to be made up with software. It's just who they are, and that's fine.

I still admit, I am excited for this launch.
Gamecube was more powerful than PS2 but not sure about the original Xbox. Nintendo might have had the power advantage over Sony but their controller was a gimmick and the worst controller I have ever used to play a game period. The mini discs as opposed to a DVD was a huge mistake as it was just another gimmick and way for Nintendo to make extra money by selling those discs to third parties.

I want to see Nintendo do EVERYTHING that Sony and Microsoft do every gen and then see how they do. I truly have no doubt that if Nintendo stopped being a toy company and started being a video game console manufacturer company that with their IP catalog and everything else added in that they would easily be number one in this industry.

Refusing to sell hardware at a loss is beyond stubborn, stupid, idiotic, moronic and obsolete. The hardware is not what you make money on. It's the software and online subs that you make money on. In my opinion, it's all about getting the console into people's homes as easily and cheap as possible. The software will eventually allow you to break even and then make profit but can't do that if the console doesn't sell and get into people's homes.

At $300, I think the Switch will sell probably around 6m between launch and September with a boost once Mario releases but the last three months of 2017 will belong to Sony and Microsoft as three out of the four consoles for those two companies will be equal or cheaper than Switch and that will kill Nintendo which is why they're clearly rushing the console out instead of waiting. Outside of Zelda, games aren't ready for the Switch and majority of developers just recently received their dev kits.

Nintendo should have waited and also, should have cancelled the Wii U version of Zelda because it gives no incentive to buy a Switch if you already own a Wii U. Add in the expensive accessories and non-existent launch lineup outside of Zelda which im sure was finished a while ago but was held back until Switch was revealed and dated.

With that said, if pre-orders open up again for Switch, I'll definitely pre-order one but only if it's with the grey joy cons and if I can also get the Pro controller because im not using those small joy cons to play Zelda. UGH.

The funny thing is when it comes to gamecube, ps2 and xbox I had no idea up in till like 2 years ago that ps2 was considered to be less powerful then gamecube has there was nothing that would make you think that because multiplatform games looked 100% the same on all 3 systems and there where not any exclusives on gamecube that made me go wow this system is more powerful then ps2. So even if gamecube was more powerful then ps2 it was not noticeable has I always thought all 3 where the same power. When it comes to the controller I have to disagree bit time that it is the worst controller. In fact I think it is the best video game controller ever made as the shape and size of the controller is perfect. Now maybe it was the size of the disk that hurt Nintendo that gen but I really don't understand how gamecube didn't sale better but I also don't get why people loved the wii and why it sold so well.

It is true that the switch should be cheaper though because right now the price to get one is more then both xboxone and ps4 even though those are a lot more powerful and by November xboxone slim and ps4 slim may both be 200. So in less Nintendo cuts the price by 100 around the holiday's it is most likely going to be more then both xboxone and ps4 come holiday time to. Considering this is Nintendo we are talking about to who knows if they will cut the price on the system even if they should. I mean heck the wii u didn't sale well yet only ever got cut by 50 and you would think had they cut it by like another 50-100 that it could have at least sold a little more and you would think they would have wanted to get rid of what ever is left by cutting the price instead of just having wii u's sitting around that are never going to be bought.

It is but even if someone thinks it is not I don't get how any one could call it a gimmick? Like what makes it a gimmick?

What i REALLY want Nintendo to do is start making almost ALL Steam indie games available on the switch.

Games like Stardew Valley Hyper Drifter etc. Games that arent that grapohically intensive and are actually very good small indie games.

Also i hate to say it

but i really hope that NBA 2k18 and Fifa take on different graphic styles almost like nba street or fifa street?

                            I don't want 2K to do that.

But I really want a basketball game with a more cartoon look (not ridiculous proportions but animated) that still plays a serious sim.

Sort of like Super Mega Baseball. That game plays a good baseball game but with fun graphics.

Yeah I don't care to have NBA 2k, Madden, or FIFA on the Switch. If I'm going to play those games, I'm going to play them on my PS4. I'd rather have a non-licensed basketball, football, soccer, and baseball game instead.

Ps4/XB1 fans say they don't want to buy a second console to get the Nintendo games...Nintendo should just make them on the other consoles.

Well, I don't want to buy another console just to play a couple good sports games. I want a normal fifa/PES and 2k18 on the Switch. Don't make us Switch owners feel different or like a second-class system.
