Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I can't, or at least now, justify, Switch just for Zelda.
However, this post from Money opened my eyes. Is this also coming out for Wii U? If so, I'll snag a Wii U on the cheap and Zelda. Thanks Money
Edit: Whoa, prices are way higher for Wii U consoles that I thought. On Ebay they are right around 250 average. In that case, maybe I'll wait a bit for Switch to dropLast edited by shogunofharlem3; 02-19-2017, 10:41 PM.Comment

Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
Very true, even older games for any of the Nintendo systems sell retail and 3rd party new/used much higher then other systems games. Big N and Apple only 2 I know that this holds true for even years after the fact

Zelda should be amazing but I don't think a game that you can get on another system is going to really sale a system. Switch needs much more then just Zelda a game you can already play on wii u.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
While I understand that Switch needs more then just Zelda I find it funny when people say like 400 because it is not. The system cost 300 and so even after tax like 324 or something. So that is like 76 less then 400. You don't need a pro controller or any thing extra then just the switch to play. But I think I am the only one in the word that that had a wii u and wii and never owned a pro controller lol.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I think some people (okay, just Tomba) are over exaggerating here.
I hope you know what you're saying when you say Zelda will be Nintendos Skyrim/Witcher.
Witcher 3 (and it's DLC) is one of (if not the) most critically acclaimed games released in any recent memory, and one that has actually held up to the test of time for critics (looking at you games like Fallout 4).
Skyrim is what it is because it's so open and easy as a mod playground.
Zelda (and Nintendo games by any means) will never be #2.
They have to be pretty damned special to be in that category of #1 and if you can show me a good Nintendo game in the last 5 years or so like that then maybe you'd have an argument.
As for right now everything about Zelda looks like it will be a good game for Nintendo fans and fans of the Zelda series but zero reason to buy a Switch oover something else (let's not get into your asinine concept of the switch replacing a 3DS right now. This is a home console being marketed as something you can take with you, not vice versa.)
Hell, I'm a fan that's picking one up when I get back most likely (instead of just picking up Zelda on the WiiU) but if anyone asked me the answer would just be "get Horizon and a PS4 it's the much smarter choice right now and the safer bet in the long run."badComment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I think that Zelda will get higher review scores but Horizon will sell more even though I do think that Zelda could sell at a 1-1 ratio if Nintendo had more Switch consoles available at launch. Quality wise, I think that both games will be great with Horizon based more around action and RPG elements with Zelda being more based around adventure, exploring and RPG elements.
I'm still 50/50 on the Switch but I passed on pre-ordering twice. Main reason being that I wouldn't play Zelda until May at the earliest with the second reason being that the cost is too high when you factor in the game and the Pro controller. We'll see though.Comment

Sure the console isn't 400 but you need a game. The system doesn't come with Zelda and for a lot of people that's the one game they want to play at launch. So up front it is almost a $400 investment.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
$299.99 (Console) + 59.99 (Game) + Tax (7.25%) = $380 in my area. So people are using their internet math and rounding up.

I don't count the game though because that is not the system its self and you can get it on wii u. So if you want the game and already have the system then really its only costing you a extra like 324 to get it on the system instead of getting it on the wii u.Comment

Personally, Breath of the Wild is looking like it might be one of the greatest games ever. Everything I've read about the game and the level of detail they put into it, including the weather effects where fire arrows don't work in the rain, the wind will affect arrow shots and the movement of boulders, etc. sounds amazing. Even if it is isn't one of the all-time greats, if it's as good as Skyward Sword, Twilight, Princess, and Wind Waker, that might be worth the price of admission if you don't already have a Wii U.
Of course I thought the Wii U was worth it just for Mario Maker and the infinite Mario that game brought, so people who don't like Nintendo's first party titles might feel differently about the system. This will be especially true if the 3rd party support isn't great.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I'm a weirdo that likes my niche games. WiiU had one of my favorite games of last generation (Tokyo mirage sessions) and has quite a few of my favorite IPs (Fire Emblem, some of the older Zelda, and even though I haven't been a fan of them lately Mario is what I grew up on and will always have a soft spot for me.)
Nintendo doesn't need people like me to jump on the bandwagon. I'm getting a Switch. They need to give compelling reasons for those that didn't buy a WiiU (and those that did buy a WiiU, but didn't support it with software sales) to not only get a Switch but be invested in its ecosystem.
If you love Zelda games (LttP is literally the first game I have a memory of playing through on my own) then this one might be one of the GOATs. If you're not invested into Zelda, it could just be another also-ran in a category (third person open world games) that's filling to the brim with them because some of the ideas just didn't execute well enough (mind you Nintendo is kind of King of the 'but-ifs' on minor things hurting their game.)
I'm hoping for the former, but fully prepared for the latter.badComment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I've been stalking this thread for a long time. I actually just told my wife that Switch is coming soon. Every time I think Switch, I'd rather spend that money on a second Xbox One for my upstairs.
I can't, or at least now, justify, Switch just for Zelda.
However, this post from Money opened my eyes. Is this also coming out for Wii U? If so, I'll snag a Wii U on the cheap and Zelda. Thanks Money

It's crazy what used Wii U's are going for in my area too.
My son no longer plays his at all. In fact, it's packed away and collecting dust in a storage room.
I'm thinking of getting a copy of Wind Waker HD and playing it myself. I've always enjoyed Zelda games.
And if I like WW, then I'm going to get BotW.
In some ways, I don't get why Nintendo didn't make this a Switch exclusive?
Are they throwing the angry, disgruntled Wii U owners a bone since they said it was supposed to be a launch title for the Wii U?
I kind of doubt that since Nintendo has never given a crap about its consumer base and will gouge their own kids eyes out for a quarter.
I think there are a few consumers on the fence who probably would have purchased a Switch if BotW was for Switch only. So I really don't get this (not complaining though as it would save me close to $400).Last edited by Money99; 02-20-2017, 09:33 AM.Comment

Re: Nintendo Switch Announced, Scheduled to Release March 2017
I still want a Switch, but I've cooled off on how immediate I do.
Before I was planning on when MK8 was released, but now I'm not sure about that. If I can wait and grab a bundle around the Holidays I will probably do that. Apart from Mario I'm not sure what else is suppose to come out for the rest of the year after May.
