Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5

.they got away with it this gen by adding on the Pro and X consoles as an option....).

This will essentially be the same thing. Looks like all your PS4/Pro games will still work and devs will have the option to give them a once over and add ray tracing and other features if they want. You’re not going to have to buy this console to play Spider-Man 2, The Show 2020 or Horizon zero dawn 2. I think we are past that point console wise.

Are you saying you think games like spiderman 2 and Horizon zero dawn 2 will be playable on ps4? No way they will be ps5 only.

Yes. In a lesser form obviously. 1080 on PS4, Almost 4k/ with hdr on pro, 4k hdr/ray tracing on ps5. We will see though. Huge mistake by Sony if it pans out like you are saying.

I dont know like how games work on PC with like less powerful PC and newer games and such but I expect at some point even xbox will be more like what I am saying with Sony. I dont think it is a big mistake at all and it you are having games on ps4 still it may hold ps5 games back to much. I expect it to be just like how it was in the past where older system gets newer games for a little bit longer but newer system gets some newer excusives. I mean basically the 10 year thing that Sony has done in the past. About ps5 release date I have been saying early 2020 for a while because a lot of rumors have been saying they where looking at late 2019 but than parts got pushed back to make it more like a early 2020 release. I'm staying with my Fall 2020 prediction and Spider Man 2, Horizon 2 and God of War 2 will be exclusive to PlayStation 5 as they should be. There's a chance albeit slim that Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part 2 being cross-gen but im going to say that all three are PS4 exclusives and will eventually get updated for PlayStation 5 with an update/patch.

I think for Spiderman 2 and God of war 2 they will be more like 2021 I just think 2020 is a little to soon for those 2 games and even more so spiderman being that it was a late/middle 2018 game.

Feelings can always change, but as of right now, I am leaning towards waiting for the mid generation bump this go around. So unless PS5 absolutely knocks my socks off, waiting until the “Pro” version could be my play.

At a point in my gaming hobby where I no longer need the newest and strongest machine right away.

Feelings can always change, but as of right now, I am leaning towards waiting for the mid generation bump this go around. So unless PS5 absolutely knocks my socks off, waiting until the “Pro” version could be my play.

At a point in my gaming hobby where I no longer need the newest and strongest machine right away.

The only reason I might consider this at launch is that I decided to skip on the Pro because it was not enough of a bump to really matter for the few games I play there. My mp games are all on the XB1X.

I dont known if mid gen upgrade will even be a thing this gen. I think only reason ps4 got one was because 4k was starting to take off and I think 8k is a lot longer than like 3-4 years from now from really taking off. I tend to get new systems around launch just get to excited like not to. I am not 100% sure if I will get this yet I have a big back log of games but at the same time I am ready to play games in 4k for the first time and we dont known games or price yet games is the bigger issue for me though. If Horizon zero dawn 2 is a launch game I am day 1.

I believe we will see some form of mid generation upgrade this time as well. And even if we don’t see one, I can easily wait for the inevitable price drops before jumping in on PS5 or whatever Microsoft plan to call the next Xbox.

Aggressively priced would be just about the only thing I can think of. Talking $400 or less, which I believe is unlikely, for me to begin to consider it. Otherwise I will be content playing new Sony releases on my base PS4 in the foreseeable future.

MS has already committed more frequent hardware refreshes as they've made the concept of generations largely irrelevant in their ecosystem. Hard to see Sony declining to match their tempo from a competitive standpoint.

Unlike the current generation in which the Jaguar CPU was obsolete at launch, I don't see that happening with PlayStation 5 and Xbox 4. I believe that with the specifications that both Sony and Microsoft are aiming for that neither will have a mid-gen console because they won't need one. If both consoles end up basically double in GPU power compared to the 6TF of Xbox One X with a better CPU, more RAM, an SSD and 8K capabilities, what else could they possibly include to justify a mid-gen console?

On a related side note, Ray Tracing is said to be hardware based via Naughty Dog's lighting artist.
