Cant imagine not being able to play games like spiderman, ratchet and clank, Horizon to name a few and just about all of those are system sellers by them selfs and than you add them all up together. Also switch not being able to play games like Zelda, splatoon, Mario etc. I just cant imagine only playing on pc but that is just me. So many things play netflix to my tv does but I dont use Netflix has I dont have enough time can hardly keep up with sports at times my number 1 love with working and school and home work and such. When I do have free time and not watching sports its playing video games.

Yeah if you can trade boxes in that saves you money, space to store them and also dont have to hook and unhook things all the time. My tv only has 4 inputs all HDMI. I have a ps3, ps4, SNES, gamecube, wii u, switch, cable box, 4k player, soundbar. The older stuff I have converter so I can use HDMI to play it. That is 9 things and only 4 inputs. If ps5 can play 4k movies I could than get rid of my 4k player and also my ps4 and now have 8 things to plug in once ps5 comes out instead of 10 things, and if by some chance it can play ps3 games, and 4k movies than I could have only 7 things to have to plug in. That means less often having to unplug and replug stuff in.Comment

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
The ps3 came out in late 2006 and right around 2007 economy started to go down hill so yes it did play a factor for sure. In mid late 2008 was like when it reached its worse but even like right around 2007 so still during like ps3 first full year it was already starting to do bad. Yes ps2 went to there heads. That is my point because of the chip Sony used Multiplatform games looked and played better for about the first 2 years on xbox. Than after that developers started to figure out the chip and Multiplatform games started to look and perform the same. So again there was a lot more to it than just 600 that caused issues for Sony.
The multi-platform games always looked and played better on Xbox 360. The ego, price and cell processor (which is still causing them problems 13 years later) hurt Sony and PS3. It wasn't until the Slim model in September 2009 and a $300 price tag in which PS3 finally started to hit on all cylinders. It didn't hurt that it had Uncharted 2 a month later.
The main difference is that Microsoft and Xbox 360 started out very strong but got weaker as it got near the end of the life cycle where as Sony started out very weak but got stronger at the end. When you release TLOU five months before your next gen console and it not only wins GOTY but for many including myself is GOTG, how can you not be excited for the future at that time?
Some say that PS3 ended up outselling Xbox 360 by around 2M but others say, it's the opposite. Either way, it's impressive considering the disaster of the reveal and launch that PS3 had.
Of course, that was then and this is now. I'm looking forward to reading more information on PS5 later this year or early next year as im still surprised that mentioned it at all but it was a brilliant move because they said a lot despite saying very little.Comment

I simply have no desire to play those games so it is easier for me to not buy a console. If I really wanted to play exclusives like that I would be staying with consoles, but they don't interest me enough to stick around.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
That's silly, don't you want to play GoW, Spider Man and many other games on a better machine that gives you more FPS and graphic boost? The answer is hell yeah.
Also yes i don't have space when all the HDMI slots are taken up with an Xbox, PS, Chromecast and PC. One thing I want to avoid is using an HDMI switch and having to have more controllers everywhere.
Now, I don’t play many older games to the point where I’m gonna have 7 consoles hooked up to my TV, but I’ll never get rid of my older stuff.Florida State Seminoles

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
I think backwards compatibility for at least the previous "generation" is an important selling tool and it should be the standard. We're in the digital age of gaming now and a lot of us are buying our games almost exclusively online and in digital format. If I build a backlog on PC then I can carry that **** forever and I think it's worth paying a little extra for. I all ready have a PS4, SNES Classic, and PS2 hooked up. I don't need ANOTHER console.
People have some serious backlogs nowadays and it's just not smart to force people to choose between the backlog or having something new when they can't just go sell their physical copies. If I can play the newest AAA Sony exclusive story game on the best system on the market and still play a shooter that came out on the PS4 with my friends then I'm all for it.
With backwards compatibility people have the option of dumping their PS4 to help negate the cost of a new console and don't lose their ability to play any of the games they are all ready enjoying.Comment

My kids will be able to play older Xbox 360 games (through BC) as well as Xbox One games once we're at that generation. Those era games hold up a bit more vs. "retro" games, and give you a lot of value and backlog (plus they can be cheaper later on).Comment

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
I guess all you guys desiring BC on the new consoles play on one TV. I can see why you would want that convenience. I hook up in a few different rooms so for me to have a few consoles up and running all the time it's not a big deal but I see your point for sure so long as BC doesn't add too much to the cost of the new console.Comment

Would be happy proper backward compatibility to begin with and a stated vision or purpose for their ecosystem going forward.

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
Me personally, I have a perfect solution in regards to backwards compatibility - eliminate all my backlogged games. LOL.
I have 5 games for Xbox 360 and around 8 for this generation but I have almost two years to wrap them all up. Definitely hoping to be done with them all before I kick off next gen simply because once it gets "out of reach", I guess you could say, it simply becomes time to move on.
I gave up a long time ago on older games from before Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 simply because I know im not going to play them and majority of them, simply won't appeal to me especially visually like they did back then so instead of thinking "yeah, I'll go back one day (im not, lol)", I just say screw it and forget it because it's not going to happen and move on. LOL.Comment

If Sony maintains the walled garden then I would also probably never play any of their titles again off-console either, but we'll see what their cloud approach ends up being.

Ended up where we have 2 Xboxes (I liked the TV stuff at the time), and the streaming stuff can be nice as well (I've used my laptop in the office before). I get your point though, and I used to own a lot of systems and whatnot. Just can't really justify or afford it now (I don't even have a Xbox One S or X yet just cause it's money lol). I have to fit my gaming into limited time/money. Game Pass works well when I get deals and then have "free" new games for a year vs. when I'd blow 60 bucks regularly on games I didn't get enough value out of.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
