exactly, E3 we will know more about the Lockhart and Anaconda from MS. Two SKU's which Im starting to Hate on top of it all, Make one system, and that goes for both Sony and MS.

Until I see anything confirmed from MS to be on paper or annouced the more powerful talk is just talk, it will be a wait and see at this point.

About those Mid-Gen upgrades too, Im getting tired of that too. Bulild the power to last and thats it. The hardcores like most of us it will buy them, but to the casual gamer the Mid-gen updates won't matter at all, you know how many I people I know who are casual gamers and didn't even know about the Pro or the X.

I really don't care about the multiple skus and mid-gen updates as long as the games all play fine at the normal one...I see your points, but that's more of an issue with MS or Sony being profitable to make them or not.

We are at a point where 2 skus are essentially needed unless you want to force your 1080 customers to pay for tech they can’t even use.

Also not sure you are actually tired of mid gen upgrades since you are still buying them. It’s fine if the casual gamer has no idea they exist but I don’t want them not making them because of that. I’d prefer not to be held back personally just because someone else isn’t into a hobby as much as me. That goes for any hobby.

But then if that power comes 3 years earlier, it will be multiple hundreds of dollars more. Meaning the console will cost 700+ initially before the gpu hardware comes down. In the past it didn't matter much, but for this past gen it did because 4k started taking off and they could introduce the hardware that could at least partially handle it at an affordable price.

If they had that hardware to start in 2013, those consoles would likely have been less powerful than the refresh and still cost well over $600. If they didn't do the mid gen consoles then as 4k became more widespread people would be wanting a new generation to start to take advantage of it. The sweet spot is the mid gen upgrade so then you have a choice which you want, both being in the "accepted" console price range, without being a generation behind if you choose the lower model.

Not sure how anyone can argue with that?

In the MS ecosystem it isn't really a mid-gen upgrade, either. The One S will be phased out at some point, a One X slim will be relegated to the low end, rinse and repeat every w/ a new box every 4-5 years with some upgrades larger than others and other occasional exceptions. Still waiting for Sony's overall plan for their ecosystem.

Hopefully it is somewhat the same. New generations, while exciting, don't really take off for a few years. If the architecture is the same then you lose those first few years where developers are finding ways to get the best performance out of the hardware. Then they can simply have their console requirements similar to minimum/recommended on PC games.

They'd have to find a good way to market that for the average consumer though...plays on PS4 Pro and PS5. There likely are parents out there who say...my kid has a PS4 so it will work! That number at the end can make it tricky.

One feature I really hope we have on ps5 is something the switch has and that is keeping track of how many hours you have played with different games. I love being able to see how many hours I have put into like Zelda and Mario etc. I wish ever system ever made had that feature has there are some old games I would really be interested to known how many hours I have played has I known there are some games that would be really high. Sure hope Sony adds it going forward.

While I think most people who had a xbox one or ps4 are not going to get a pro or one x and just wait for ps5 and what ever the next xbox is and you can make a case that if we didn't get those mid gen upgrades that people would be like more hungry for next gen has it would be there first chance to experience console games in 4k.

While maybe when ps5 comes out Sony will drop the price of slim ps4 to 199 and pro to 299 and maybe sony will come out with a ps5 pro a few years after ps5 and than ps5 will become the low end and than maybe once ps6 comes out ps5 pro will became the low end and continue from there. If ps4 was not dominating in sale I think slim would already be 250 and pro 350 but because ps4 is sales are still really good there is really no reason to drop the price. I do expect before ps5 launches though that slim will drop to 199 and pro to 299.

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5

I'm likely done buying any new consoles.
The leap in technology is fine, but the quality of games hasn't kept pace.
Right now the most popular game (or was for a long time) is Fortnite; a game that looks like it could be played on the Sega Genesis.

Sure, games look super pretty, but this next generation will get the same FPS, RPG's, etc, etc, etc.
We won't see any mind blowing concepts. We'll get Uncharted 5 with better graphics.
We'll have to go thru the same cycle/process with sports games. First game out will have less options than the last and we'll need 7-8 years to get all the regular features back again - just in time for the PS6 to come out.

There was nothing revolutionary about the games on PS4/XBX outside of graphics.

I some what understand where you are comming from but at the same time we still did get new ip this gen that where really good like spiderman, Horizon to name a few. There are some things I miss about the past but there are still to many new games that are good to just stop getting new consoles. Ps3 I think was a lot better than ps4 though.

I known some games on the pro are like 1440p and on regular ps4 are 1080p and I known that some games did get a pro patch but I dont known if there is any way to improve graphics on ps4 games on ps5 with out a patch or not even if it was like just upscaling. But yeah if I could play Horizon and spiderman and such in 4k that would be great. Yeah I dont get the whole name change thing. I dont really get why so many people wanted it in the first place and it seems like it would be something extremely easy to do but I guess not. About the ps3 chip yeah I agree but it would still be nice.

I dont see march being a rush at all it worked for the switch and switch was only like 3 months from being shown to comming out. I could see Sony showing ps5 a little bit after e3 like July-September or something and than at Play station experience giving us the price, release date, specs, launch games etc and have it come out in march/April 2020 and there where a lot of rumors going around a while back it was going to be a late 2019 but got pushed back to like early 2020 because the parts got pushed back that they need for the system. About the final 3 big ps4 games you could still have them come out before ps5 if say the last one comes out in like December or something or maybe have like one of them be a cross gen game that comes out right around the time of ps5 and have the other 2 before that some time this year. I could see a ratchet game being launched if the rumor about one more on ps4 is wrong. I think if we dont see a new ratchet game shown for ps4 around e3 than we are not getting another one on ps4 as I think around e3 we will get another state of play updating us on the final 3 big ps4 games, and giving us news on what ever the unknown some what big second party game is for ps4 that we have not seen yet that is the rumored ratchet game. If we dont get news about a new ratchet game by than I think it will be a ps5 launch game instead and I think Horizon zero dawn 2 is very possible a launch game to and if ps5 is late 2020 I think the chance of Horizon zero dawn 2 being a launch game or at least like in the first 6 months of ps5 life is very likely has early 2021 would be 4 years sense the first game came out.

I want ps5 in early 2020 because I am ready for 4k and interested in seeing if ps5 can play ps4 games in 4k or not and I think Horizon 2 will be a launch game like I said and also even though its not a first party or excusive game I think there is a good change that we see what ever rocksteady's new game is come out right around launch of ps5/next xbox.
Majority of games are either 4K CBR or dynamic 4K meaning that the resolution varies throughout the game. I'm simply hoping for native 4K at a locked 30FPS. I know majority want 60FPS but I don't see that happening unless it fluctuates and I prefer locked 30FPS over a varied 60FPS with bad frame pacing. God of War, Spider Man, Horizon, etc. are already 4K CBR and the difference between CBR and Native is minimal and unless you're someone who literally counts pixels, you won't know the difference.

March would be a rush because the games wouldn't be ready and I don't want Death Stranding, Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us Part 2 being cross-gen. I want them all out BEFORE PlayStation 5 launches. Plus, there will be way too many games coming out in 2020 and the majority would not be cross-gen because they most likely wouldn't have the time to port them over and if they did, could end up being a rush job.

I can guarantee that PS5 was never ever 2019 simply because it would make no sense. PS5 is going to be the second highest selling console of all time (with an outside shot at surpassing PS2 depending on how long Sony manufactures the console and the price) and Sony has literally no reason to rush out PS5 while PS4 is still selling insane numbers despite being $300 and $400 respectively. Also, March 2020 would mean that we would be waiting an extra six months for the next blockbuster exclusive to release.

You know that you can still get a 4K TV now and still play PS5 on that 4K TV. You don't have to wait until PS5 to get a 4K TV bud. And if anything, November 2020 would actually help you because with Black Weekend sales, you could most likely buy a new 4K HDR TV for less money than what you would be spending six months earlier.

That and I haven't seen the 'feature reset' FUD about sports games in a decade? And with no reason for it to happen with these latest consoles (unless Switch gets a port).

I get being burnt out on games, but no reason to try and blame a bunch of tangential things that don't really appear to be based in reality.
