Your answer alone proves exclusives matter, well to me that is. Not many has the financial means of purchasing 2 consoles. Especially, with some of the specs being discussed for them. They could very well be $5-$6 retail costs. And when you speak of more powerful, what does that mean? 2TF more? What will that give you? We'll be getting a console already prepped for 8K which I could care less about. But what more can we notice different with some of the new specs revealed. One thing I know, at least if I stay exclusive and with multi with the PS ecosystem, I could get the 2nd version of PSVR which gives me more different types of game playing in a desired perspective.

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
Same difference, if the value proposition doesn't work for me the PS4 will have more or less not existed and we probably won't buy another PlayStation console again.
If Sony maintains the walled garden then I would also probably never play any of their titles again off-console either, but we'll see what their cloud approach ends up being.
For me, I don't go back more than the previous gen which is why I will finish the five games from Xbox 360 that are in my backlog before the next gen consoles launch. The games are in some ways old, outdated and obsolete so to play them when there's even more advanced and just better games will be even harder for me to do.
Have to wait and see what it all turns out to be though. Still 18 months away.Comment

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
Although I agree with you on the point of playing older games on newer hardware! There’s nothing like (for me) to hook up a older console and playing older games. I have every console I bought dating back to the PlayStation 1. It just brings back memories.
Now, I don’t play many older games to the point where I’m gonna have 7 consoles hooked up to my TV, but I’ll never get rid of my older stuff.
I think backwards compatibility for at least the previous "generation" is an important selling tool and it should be the standard. We're in the digital age of gaming now and a lot of us are buying our games almost exclusively online and in digital format. If I build a backlog on PC then I can carry that **** forever and I think it's worth paying a little extra for. I all ready have a PS4, SNES Classic, and PS2 hooked up. I don't need ANOTHER console.
People have some serious backlogs nowadays and it's just not smart to force people to choose between the backlog or having something new when they can't just go sell their physical copies. If I can play the newest AAA Sony exclusive story game on the best system on the market and still play a shooter that came out on the PS4 with my friends then I'm all for it.
With backwards compatibility people have the option of dumping their PS4 to help negate the cost of a new console and don't lose their ability to play any of the games they are all ready enjoying.
I guess all you guys desiring BC on the new consoles play on one TV. I can see why you would want that convenience. I hook up in a few different rooms so for me to have a few consoles up and running all the time it's not a big deal but I see your point for sure so long as BC doesn't add too much to the cost of the new console.

I'm expecting PS5 to be fully compatible with PS4 in general with all the Sony published games to be available for day one, some with PS5 upscaling via an update. PS Now will probably have their PS, PS2 and PS3 games on it. You may get lucky with PS and PS2 but due to the Cell, I don't see PS3 happening unless they come up with a work around.

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
The only "BC" I'm curious about is the digital games.
Would be nice if all the digital games I have can be re-downloaded on PS5
including the ones I have for PS3.Joshua:

You see getting back like $100 for a 4k br player and a PS4 on trade is the reason I do not trade anything in but just keep the items.Comment

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
I won't be trading in either Xbox Ones personally because of this. They can be streaming machines and play slightly older games in the future (or possibly stream into another room from my new Xbox 5 or whatever, that'd be sweet).Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

I know that for multi plats like COD, Madden, all the top multi plat games it will be best on the xbox platform. I spend way more on multi plats over the few exclusives that i like from Sony.Comment

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
Maybe it would be more than that I am not sure I was just using that as an example but yeah there is no point in having a ps4 and 4k player if ps5 can play both of those any way so why keep it?Comment

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
Well good for you then, but I can get both so the PS5 will be on when it has an exclusive I want to play but the bulk of games I prefer to play them on the better system. That is not rocket science...If you can only get one then go for what you like

I don't know, maybe its because I didn't take rocket science class but I'm still left wondering....
We can both agree the XB1X is a brilliant machine that does rival some high powered pc's in the market with a generous retail cost. We've also learned that the new PS5 specs will now surpass that with today's new technology when delivered. No doubt, the new XB1X will match and perhaps surpass it with some of the rumored specs from Sony. But by surpassing it, by how much and where will it boast more power?
So where can there be extra power? TFLOPS? How much more will it have? What will make it more powerful than its weaker system?
Maybe a gaming developer can explain how much additional graphical computations can be made with 20 additional TFLPS more to work with but then, it would make this a very expensive machine else, I can't think of any other means while keeping costs down. If 2-4 TFLOPs more is only announced, it really won't make a difference. So I ask again, where is this extra power going to be used?Comment

The next generation of consoles hasn’t released nor have all the specs been released and yet we have a console war lol

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
Oh yeah I guess with different tv but for me if ps5 can play 4k movies than it makes the 4k player I have worthless going forward and same thing with it being able to play ps4 games has I dont have things plugged into a different TV's. I just looked and the 4k player I have I cant even find it to like trade in on amazon or any thing so it may be even less lol.Comment

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
I am wondering if ps4 games being played on ps5 will be full 4k. When it comes to true BC I think it will only be ps4 but I would love ps3 and I dont care about ps1 or 2 as I never had a ps1 or 2 but I known it would also be big for people if it had all of them. If ps5 is early 2020 it could only be like 11 months and not 18 but we will see. You say outdated and obsolete for older games but there are still some older games that are great games even if the graphics are not like the best because of fun/good game play.
I'm sticking with November 2020 as the release date and September 2020 as a slim chance. I don't see March 2020 happening whatsoever at all. Too soon. Would feel like it's being rushed just to get ahead of Microsoft which honestly, they don't need to do at all. Rushing it out would come across as a panic move in which there's no reason for them to be that at all.
The two main reasons though would be 1) I see the final of the three exclusives being launched at least a few months before PS5 launches and 2) November 2020 would be far more stacked in regards to a launch lineup especially since it not only gives Sony's studios an extra six months, it gives all the third party publishers an extra six months because none of them would release in March 2020 anyway which means, we would still be waiting for the Fall anyway for all the cross-gen games.
November 2020 would not only be whatever exclusives that Sony has lined up (my guess is Killzone 5 and im sticking with Ratchet & Clank 2 despite the recent PS4 rumors) and third party games which would include - COD 2020, Battlefield 6, Assassin's Creed 2020 and possibly Cyberpunk 2077.
I know you're hoping for an early 2020 release (even though I can't figure out why whatsoever, lol) but I would be extremely surprised if Sony rushed out PS5. And before you say, look at the Switch.....Wii U was literally dead within two years of it's launch so it made sense for Nintendo to launch their new console as quickly as possible plus they went with March instead of the Fall because it was in between PS4 Pro and Xbox One X but more importantly, Zelda was and had been done for weeks if not a few months so to hold the console for that Fall would have made zero sense. Plus, it was around tax refund season so in a way, for Nintendo, brilliant move. For Sony, it would be a bad move in my opinion.Comment

Re: Sony releases first new details of the next PS PS5
I would assume that the PS4 games will be whatever they are on PS4 unless an updated patch gets released for the each individual game respectively. BC for PS4 is a must in my opinion. I don't believe that PS1 or PS2 is but if it ends up being BC, it would be a nice bonus. PS3 I don't see happening due to the Cell processor unless Sony finds a way around it which considering the fact that it took Sony a decade or so to finally allow you to change your PSN name (which could turn into a disaster) so don't hold your breath.

I dont see march being a rush at all it worked for the switch and switch was only like 3 months from being shown to comming out. I could see Sony showing ps5 a little bit after e3 like July-September or something and than at Play station experience giving us the price, release date, specs, launch games etc and have it come out in march/April 2020 and there where a lot of rumors going around a while back it was going to be a late 2019 but got pushed back to like early 2020 because the parts got pushed back that they need for the system. About the final 3 big ps4 games you could still have them come out before ps5 if say the last one comes out in like December or something or maybe have like one of them be a cross gen game that comes out right around the time of ps5 and have the other 2 before that some time this year. I could see a ratchet game being launched if the rumor about one more on ps4 is wrong. I think if we dont see a new ratchet game shown for ps4 around e3 than we are not getting another one on ps4 as I think around e3 we will get another state of play updating us on the final 3 big ps4 games, and giving us news on what ever the unknown some what big second party game is for ps4 that we have not seen yet that is the rumored ratchet game. If we dont get news about a new ratchet game by than I think it will be a ps5 launch game instead and I think Horizon zero dawn 2 is very possible a launch game to and if ps5 is late 2020 I think the chance of Horizon zero dawn 2 being a launch game or at least like in the first 6 months of ps5 life is very likely has early 2021 would be 4 years sense the first game came out.
I want ps5 in early 2020 because I am ready for 4k and interested in seeing if ps5 can play ps4 games in 4k or not and I think Horizon 2 will be a launch game like I said and also even though its not a first party or excusive game I think there is a good change that we see what ever rocksteady's new game is come out right around launch of ps5/next xbox.Comment
