Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I'm impressed. Nothing outside of NBA2K21 looked "next gen" to me but I expected that. Spiderman Miles Morales is that launch title that'll bring it home for me provided I can get my hands on a console.

I'm definitely looking forward to PS5 teardown, UI, Console features, and some tech demos.
Ratchet and Clank does a good job of showing off SSD. Going through a portal and changing up environments in a flash is definitely a product of SSD. I do want to see some PS4 Titles that get the PS5 Boost treatmentLast edited by illwill10; 06-11-2020, 09:36 PM.Comment

GTA 5 is great and all but c’mon already. GTA 5 has seen so many remasters and has crossed over 3 generations of consoles (with the ps5 coming out soon). To me, GTA 5 has run its course. But can’t blame R* . GTA 5 prints money for them.

I’m most likely going to get the digital model as I haven’t bought a physical disk the past 4 years. I also don’t buy blu ray movies as well.

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I wasn't sure how to feel about the system's aesthetics at first, but I think they're growing on me. I don't straight up love it, although I am glad they went with the less than obvious choice and took the alternative to a black box. Makes it look like the future of gaming.
A lot of the games felt "samey" to me (third-person adventure platformer driven by a narrative). Different art styles for sure and some creative design elements. It just became difficult for me to get super excited for each title. GT7 and RE8 are exciting, while Deathloop also got my curiosity piqued. I wanted some more from the sports section but what can you do.
We're slowly seeing games and movies blend as an artistic medium, with the former continually moving toward the latter. It gets to be impressive when a game can look as good as an animated movie. I don't know if we're there yet, but it's getting close.
To each their own, of course, but I am definitely intrigued by this next generation. I think I'll stick with the PS5 at first out of familiarity. I am also looking forward to the cyberpunk genre becoming a huge fad and getting a number of titles that utilize the formula.
The least they could have done was throw a GTA VI teaser at the end or something.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Just finished watching this about a hour ago. Posting a few thoughts and then going to read what ever one else has said to do. First i hate sony right now just take my money now. The amount of good games shown was amazing. So had my money like 5 minutes in.
I was not expecting to get like a spiderman spin off game and on day 1. Interesting we are getting that before ratchet and clank and now with getting a new ratchet and clank and a spiderman spin off i wonder how that effects the making on the spiderman sequel. Like i know they have more then 1 team but not 3 teams. So like who is working on spiderman sequel if a spiderman sequel and ratchet is being worked on? Like spiderman spin of is 2020. So are we then going to get ratchet and clank in 2021 and then spiderman 2 in 2022?
Project Athia looks interesting need to see more. Returnal looks ok Was not expecting to see a sackboy game. Kena i want to see more loved the music it had. Will be interesting to see more nba 2k21 and see how much better graphics have gotten this gen has last gen its graphics jump was crazy. Surprised to see GTA 5 again lol. Ghost wire tokyo i was interested in at first but now i am not i just cant get into first person games. To bad we didn't see batman but i have kind of given up ever seeing it lol. HZD forbidden west looks amazing. Love that we can now swim under water to find things. I wonder if we will get more water creatures to fight like sharks or something. Surprised its not a launch game and had no date but with ever thing else i can get over it.
Over all 9.5/10. Glade we got to see the systems so people don't make such a big deal about it. I wonder with getting a digital and not digital systems what the cost will be. Maybe digital one will be 400 and the other 500. Was not expecting them to do that. Thought different size of SSD was much more likely. Oh one last thing going back to ratchet and clank so glade its a completely new game and not like the 2016 game and being able to like jump between planets/dimensions looks so amazing. That i think is a big ssd thing. Oh also not surprised about demon sols.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Looks like possibility of Spiderman remaster and Miles Morales expansion. If that's the case, I do expect a 6-8 hour story at most. If they remaster it and take out duplicated data b/c of SSD, then they can free up space. Also wonder if they take advantage of SSD to be able swing faster in city.
The PlayStation head, in an interview with CNET, discusses the new PS5 design, launch games like Spider-Man, and pre-orders.
"What's the difference between the all-digital PS5 and the standard one? Obviously there's a disc, but are you focusing on more storage?
As you saw, there is a small difference in the form factor of the two consoles. I'm sure you also observed, the basic design aesthetic is consistent between them. So there is that and the fact that the digital edition does not have a disk drive. That is it. Other than that, they are identical products.
We're just acknowledging here that as time passes our community is becoming more digitally orientated. In the first quarter of this year, two thirds of new games purchased were digitally downloaded. People increasingly, as they are with their music and their video, they prefer digital and we want to recognize that."
So looks like main difference will be no disc drive, but same specs. Still feels like there needs to be a $100 difference between consoles. I don't know if $50 difference is enough to make a big impact. Unless you only digitally stream games/media, is $50 really going to make a big difference? Its like with an Android and its 50 versions of a phone lol. If there is just a $50 difference between couple phones, than I'm just going with the more expensive one. I can see Sony taking a loss on the digital version.
Part me of me is tempted to go digital. The games I buy, I usually get digital and I don't play physical media on consoles anyway. But since I rent a lot of games via Gamefly, I'm going standardComment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
The shorter / expansion for Spiderman Miles Morales is the perfect move. It allows Sony to show off new features and things that wasn't possible for the ps4. I've heard in the past you will be able to swing faster then you could this gen. I'm guessing the map will be the same maybe they add a small section or something. The consumers get to play Spiderman at launch something that nobody expected. I'm actually rooting for a shorter game.
It also allows insomniac time to get more familiar with the everything the ps5 is capable of before the Peter Parker game comes out. That's a good point they could update the 1st game with the DLC and include that on the disk.

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Miles Morales expansion seems to be standalone which is great because I already completed the base game and The City That Never Sleeps expansion so no reason for me to replay all that when I can just jump into the Miles Morales expansion. Hoping it's a $20 digital download.
As for the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition, im going to say $500 for both and here's why, Digital only means that it should have more SSD storage but the SSD is by far the most expensive component in the console so im expecting it to be a 1TB SSD (maybe a little higher) but cost the same amount.Comment

I agree. I just finished watching a What Culture Gaming video on this very thing and it makes sense. I actually bought Uncharted Lost Legacy earlier this week for like 10$ on the PS Store to tide me over until LOU2 releases. I am enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would mainly because it fluffs out characters from the Uncharted world. I like the banter between Chloe and Nadiene. I could see Miles' Spiderman game doing the same. Then when Spiderman 2 actually releases I'll be more vested in the events. I wonder if Miles will be on a revenge crusade of sorts given the events of Spiderman 1.Comment
