Ghost of Tsushima is a example of this I’ve been thinking about for this. If you aren’t going to get it when it’s brand new might as well do that at launch when it’s 4 months old and will look better for $30 range. It should be improved at launch in some way since it’s a exclusive.

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I simply believe that the tech that's inside Series X will allow all that. Granted, it won't be Native 4K but I'll take lesser resolution for 60FPS locked and Ray Tracing. I'm pretty sure someone on the BRAP Podcast mentioned that Control uses tech that keeps the game at 1080P but the image quality makes the game look as if it's Native 4K, was running at 144FPS with full path Ray Tracing. I'm not sure of all the tech that's in PS5 as I have been following Xbox Series X a lot more and simply because they have the better overall console, better specifications and better tools. With that all said, im simply very confident in what Series X can do and hopefully, PlayStation 5 as well.
A lot of PC games themselves wouldn't be able to tell. The difference between 1080p and 1440p is noticeable and the majority of eyes can see the difference. The difference between 1440p and 4k becomes less obvious and on your average sized screen, many people struggle to really see any differences. It may become more regular to have non-native 4k 60fps games, but ultimately, I think games this generation are still going to either have 60fps stable, or strive for 4k native or not, but I don't expect most games to strive for both.
I can see the difference between 60 and 90 held stable, not as clearly as 60 vs 30, but it is still immediately noticeable. Once I hit around 110 to 120, anything higher is impossible for me to tell the difference from a visual standpoint. The only difference I can spot when playing Rocket League, or other games, at a locked 120fps vs 165 fps is that at 165 fps the controls are more responsive, but from a purely visual standpoint, I personally lose the ability to spot any differences above 120. The tech that you are likely referencing is DLSS which is an nVidia tech, and I'd say with 99.99% certainty we won't see anything like it on the consoles this generation. As for the hardware in these consoles, the GPU is going to be definitely worse than a 2080ti and may be more comparable to a 2070 with a slight performance increase thanks to the streamlined optimization. A 2070 is a great card, but it's not running brand new games at 4k 60fps right now, and I just don't see the bonus optimization making that become more common on the consoles. I don't doubt we will see a number of games that do try for 60fps at non-native 4k, but native 4k at 60fps is just too hard to run with modern games these days that I personally don't see this generation being the one that becomes regular in. Especially with AAA games that will be attempting such high levels of graphical fidelity. Simpler graphical games will have an easier time, obviously, but games that are striving for beautiful graphics are not going to sacrifice visual fidelity to hit native 4k at 60fps when the average console gamer probably couldn't tell the difference between native and non-native 4k, and that's not a knock on console gamers.

Isn't DirectML for Xbox Series X the equivalent of DLSS? At least that's what I have gathered from reading about tech stuff but at the same time, im not 100% sure. Even if it's not, I wouldn't be surprised if games are 4K CBR or Dynamic 4K with a locked 60FPS.
At the very least, im expecting higher stable resolutions, 60 FPS with Ray Tracing or HDR. Either way, will be much better than this generation.
I can't tell the difference between Native 4K and 4K CBR or Dynamic 4K but I can see the difference between 1080P and any of the 4K variations. I can also see but more importantly, feel the difference in regards to 30FPS and 60FPS. I'm hoping for at the very least, a 60FPS option.Comment

Can I assume that the PS5 will have full Bluetooth capabilities this gen? Where we can connect any Bluetooth headset or iPods or speakers if we want? Tired of needing dongles for headsets or not being able to connect everything we want.Comment

Also hope they allow us download media files like on PS3. I miss being able to download music from my phone or USB to the console and just use the music player.Last edited by illwill10; 06-21-2020, 09:52 PM.Comment

That's why all these wireless headphones use a usb dongle and connect via a 2.4 ghz signal. Ps4 already supports that, I would assume ps5 does as well.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
Some Avengers PS5 news.
Will have performance and graphics options.
As gamers, we sometimes want every ounce of power put into extra graphics features to achieve the highest image quality possible. For this, Marvel’s Avengers will offer an enhanced graphics mode on PS5. At other times, we want the most fluid gameplay experience possible. For that, Marvel’s Avengers will offer a high framerate mode on PS5, which targets 60 FPS with dynamic 4K resolution.
For those who are hyper-sensitive about frame-rates and resolutions, this implies some things you might not be too happy about.Comment

I hope more games next gen have those options if they won't have Locked 4k60. I hope that's the case for AC Valhalla that is has a graphic and performance mode. For me, I'll be happy with that. I'm sure there will be games that I rather sacrifice graphics for higher performance. There might be some slower pace cinematic games that would look best on graphic modeLast edited by illwill10; 06-22-2020, 05:48 PM.Comment

So with next gen looking like we’re getting $70 games. What does everyone think about that?

It's just like what Shawn Layden said recently. He didn't see the current model sustaining with constant cost of development rising. He said either price goes up or AAA games should start targeting 12-15 hours instead of the 25-40 hour experience. I actually wouldn't mind more 12-15 AAA experiences. A lot of those longer experiences are bloated and filled with fillers. You'll see quicker turnarounds with games and more developers that can support those titles.Comment

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season
I do hope that Sony really steps it up with PSNow and PS Plus. We're not going to see them put 1st party exclusives on PSNow at release. But would like to see them have more previous exclusive games on the service and continue to expand with BC titles. Especially with an All Digital console, you have to step up your streaming services. Because even with a Series S, you can be set with Gamepass and other services.Last edited by illwill10; 07-02-2020, 10:32 PM.Comment

I'm okay with it. We benefitted from last couple generations of sticking at same price. Microtransactions made up for it this gen. But it was bound to happen eventually.

I don't need a lot of games. I like the idea of versatility and smaller companies getting their in here and there, but if that particular game isn't out there then I simply won't buy it. On the flip side, if it's not expansive enough or doesn't give me that lasting appeal then I likely won't buy it either, so the 12 hour experience is not anywhere near worth $70 for me. I know a lot of other people feel the way you do, though.
All I really want is less on the DLC front.
