While I do expect different skins(maybe 1-2 years away), it really doesn't matter to me. I don't sit there and stare at the console. Then as far as the controller, I'm just glad it is bigger. Even though I only had PlayStations, I do prefer Xbox controller as a guy with big hands. While an All black controller would be nice, it doesn't matter. When I was playing NCAA 14 on someone's Xbox, I was using a pink controller for months lol.

Wonder how the hands on impression will be presented. He pretty much has to play a game to get a true impression. I can expect to see a off screen of him playing a game but not actually showing the game being played.

I like the size of new controller. It doesn't look too much bigger, but I like the form factor. With me having big hands, i did always prefer Xbox controllers.

That was a good stream. But it's hard to get a good impression of Dualsense unless you actually have it in your hands. Similarly with Tempest Engine. We have to get our hands on it to get true feel

Re: New PlayStation 5 Details Revealed, Arrives Next Holiday Season

Way back when, I always imagined that some driving game could take your controller and make those adaptive controls possible. I mean that in R2 and L2 being the gas and brake pedals and have that weight and tension to them, but then also make your left analog stick an actual steering wheel! That means when you enter the car, your stick goes up to 12 o'clock, and you go clockwise to turn right, counter-clockwise to turn left, and there is force that can re-center your wheel if you ultimately kept driving.

Even if that were hypothetically possible, I'm not sure if that would be feasibly a good feeling since you're controlling with your thumb that is coming from the left of the stick, but this was always something where I said: "What if? How far could they take something like this?" Regardless, I do hope driving games add tension to accelerating and braking.

Oh, and Astro's Playroom looks great! Wouldn't you know it, they also achieved 60 FPS on it.

The game they showed with the controller toda looks fun and it sounds interesting but yeah the controller is going to be something you got to try your self to really understand what they are talking about.

I never played any of the Astros games, but that looked fun. Maybe in a couple years my child will like it.

I do think the DualSense capabilities can be big. I'd imagine that they have toggles to turn off haptic feedback and adaptive triggers for those who don't like it. But I think of all the possibilities it can have. For a racing game, different cars will truly feel different. Cars with faster acceleration, that trigger will have no resistance. Or on a different game and you're controlling a tank, the trigger will have so much tension. On a sports game, controlling a player like Tyreek Hill or Westbrook should feel a lot different than a Michael Thomas or a Raymond Felton.

I do think the Dualsense features will be utilized throughout generation. It just needs to feel truly immersive and balanced. As long as they don't try to overdo it and actually take away from immersion, it should be well received feature. I imagine first party and exclusives will use it long term. The true test is Multi-Plat games long term. You have initial games claiming to take advantage of Dualsense. But how long will they support that. Outside of Graphics and loading times, I wouldn't expect Multi-Plat games to take advantage of console specific features. If Dualsense is a well received hardware feature, than some games might look better on XSX, but experience might be better on PS5

Ghost of Tsushima and its 83 score on metacritic is the 17th highest for a ps4 exclusive kind of gives you a idea of just how many games are rated high on ps4.

Only 2 of them are remakes/remasters. 6 of them are new IP. You also have a few games just below 83 like TLG at 82 or infamous second son at a 80. I cant remember the last time a xbox exclusive game outside of halo, Gears of war or Froza got a 80+ on xbox that was not by a independent developer at least as i know cuphead got a 80+ and so did both ori games. It may have been sunset over drive and its 81 back in 2014 and that is made by what is now a first party sony studio. So yeah this is why i don't think Sony will have to worry about xbox next gen. Sony always delivers good game. Xbox has a lot to prove. It is pretty crazy just how many more good reviewed games sony had this gen then xbox.

I think Sony is set up well for PS5. They have plenty of established and newer IPs in the bag for next gen. That's not counting any new IPs coming out next gen. I feel that Sony will get off to a fast start compared to this gen where it took them until 2016 to start churning out. With Spiderman MM this year, then Horizon II some time next year, that's a strong start to next gen. Then you'll have sequels like Spiderman 2, next GoW around 2022 and after. So Sony should be able to have major exclusives each year. I would love to revisit some of the PS4 exclusives on PS5. They don't need remasters of those games. The PS5 Boost mode should help those games

I do think Xbox will do a lot better this generation. The original all-in-one entertainment box and not a heavy focus on games. I think they will remedy that this upcoming gen. Sony proved that Single Player narrative driven games can do well and having a variety of different IPs. Xbox has to prove that it is more than Halo, Forza, and Gears

Sony is definitely setup extremely well for next generation. We'll be getting sequels to the majority of PS4 exclusives, new IP's and some licensed games from other publishers. Yeah, they have Spider Man Miles Morales which should be a good game but im not expecting it to be at the level of the 2018 Spider Man since it's going to be a 10-15 hour standalone expansion plus it is using the PS4 map and assets. Personally, I would have preferred Sony to just have Insomniac work on the sequel for Fall 2022 instead of rushing out Miles Morales. Business wise though, it's a brilliant move.

I see 2021 being Demon's Souls Remake, Gran Turismo 7 and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. I know Smallville will argue with me in regards to Horizon 2 but I don't see it releasing in 2021, more like early 2022 at best. I also see Returnal for 2022 and the heavily rumored Silent Hill game.

PlayStation 5 should definitely have a much stronger start than the PlayStation 4 did, that's for sure.

As for Xbox, we'll all see what they have come Thursday. Their rumored lineup along with the few confirmed titles are definitely looking great on paper so as long as they can execute, they'll be much better than Xbox One and have a chance to surpass Xbox 360.

Microsoft will definitely prove that they're more than Halo, Gears and Forza this upcoming generation. PlayStation is the bigger worldwide brand but at the same time, Microsoft and Spencer are done screwing around. It will be a much closer battle this time around.

Best of all for Xbox, is that they're not finished with studio acquisitions which could make things even more interesting.

I for one am super hyped for Thursday's Xbox Games Showcase and Keighley pretty much confirmed that Sony will have a State of Play in August. The hardware is done, everyone knows what they are and now, it's time to see all the games and launch lineups.

Horizon 2 i thought was going to be a launch titled or close to it. Its my biggest disappointment so far but we are still looking like we are going to get Spiderman MM, ratchet and clank rift apart and GT7 all in the first 12 months and that is a lot better then ps4 first full year already. Spiderman MM is yes a smaller game but its still a system seller level game though and with insomniac being fast maybe just maybe we could get spiderman 2 late next year but yeah likely 2022 now. Horizon like i said i thought was going to be a launch game or at least launch window but the fact they said targeting 2021 and didn't put a 2021 date on the trailer makes me think it could be targeting holiday 2021 meaning it could easily end up being pushed back to early 2022. Also getting spiderman MM at launch was a big surprised and kind of helped change my mind about Horizon 2 has well.

If we get Spiderman MM at launch, ratchet and clank rift apart early 2021 and Horizon in 2022 that would mean 3 straight years with must have games coming out for me and then you still have spiderman 2. Spiderman 2 and Horizon 2 may end up being both 2022 with one being early/mid year and the other one being late 2022. If that happens i would have 1 must have game in 2020, 2021 and 2 in 2022. Then you still have like GOW 2 at some point and what ever new IP we don't know about yet. I am not sure if we will get has many new IP next gen has this gen has Gorilla games may be busy with Horizon for a while, and insomniac may be busy with spiderman and ratchet and clank for a while, and even bend studios may make a days gone 2. But i am sure we will get at least a few.

With xbox sunset over drive is the only thing i want to play that they have and we known that with the SX that the first 2 years they are not making any exclusives for it. Meaning it will be held back by the weaker console and even if they end up with some good games there is really no reason to get the SX when you can just play there games on the xbox one. When it comes to the studios they bought i don't know how long they have had them, and how much those studios will have to show on thursday or if they need another year or so to have stuff to show. My expectations for thursday are very low but i am still glade to have something to look forward to with how crap this year has been with ever thing going on in the world and glade to have xbox showing stuff so we can get closer to Sony giving us the price and release date and launch lineup.

I'm not expecting Horizon in 2021 so as a launch title was never ever a thought for me. So there was no disappointment for me. lol. I was expecting R&C at launch but that now seems to be a Spring or late 2021 title which is fine. Getting MM somewhat makes up for it. I rather have R&C but im not going to complain about getting MM. I have Horizon for early 2022. Spider Man 2 being Fall 2022. God of War 2 in 2023 and Days Gone 2 in 2024. MM at launch, R&C in 2021 and Horizon 2 in 2022 are guarantees for me.

Xbox wise, I have zero interest in Sunset. Not for me. Anyone who believes that Xbox Series X games are being held back simply don't know how game development works. Perfect example would be Shadow of Mordor in 2014. For Xbox One and PS4, the Nemesis system was in the game but for Xbox 360 and PS3, it was NOT in the game so think about it, how did the older consoles hold back that game for this current generation? Answer is that it wasn't.

Developers know what they can and can't do when they start pre-production on a game. The only thing that can be held back is game design but using Shadow of Mordor as an example, it doesn't happen. there WILL be a reason to buy Series X. Higher Resolution, 60FPS or 120FPS, full RGB HDR, Full Path Ray Tracing, etc. plus don't be surprised if you see game design features on Series X that are NOT in the Xbox One version.

Microsoft acquired 8 studios in the last two years. Pre-E3 2018, they had 343, Coalition, Turn 10 and Mojang. I'll be posting a thread about the showcase Tuesday or Wednesday with my predictions. I'm expecting an excellent show overall with the highlight being Halo Infinite. Even the pre-show is said to be pretty good. Microsoft will also be having a hardware focused show in August.

While Sony will be having another State of Play in August as well. Hopefully they show gameplay of Horizon 2 and Miles Morales.

Sony owns Sunset Overdrive now if I am correct since it owns Insomniac and its IPs.

I see what you are saying. But game design can still be held back. Those cross gen games can't fully utilize the SSDs outside of faster loading times. They still to have them traditional loading segments/screens, it will just a lot faster on Series X. Then gameplay mechanics like the portal jumping shown in the R&C video can't be done on current gen. So, it will be held back as far design in some aspects. But, I'm sure some Series X games will have design exclusive to SX/Lockhart. I just hope Xbox is willing to have some of those games have separate design builds from Xbox One. I do want to see some first party games developed for Series X and Lockhart in mind.

I agree that is a good reason to buy a Series X, but that mainly applies to those who already have a top tier 4k TV or plan on buying one. Most people can't afford to spend upwards of $2000 for console, tv, games, and accessories at once. I wouldnt want to get a Series X just because of superior fidelity. It would be for the games. I do think Xbox will bring it with the games.

Really like that more games are going with graphic modes and performance mode. I know some want it all, but at least more games are giving gamers the choice.

Since this is an Insomniac title, hopefully that means they are considering the same thing for the upcoming Ratchet & Clank game.

Hoping the 60FPS is locked meaning no fluctuations. Wonder if the 4K is CBR or Dynamic. Either way, 60FPS for me.
