I had a meeting with a client at 11. Ouch. I had planned to leave a friend my credit card details to try and order me one since he's still working from home. I backed out at the last minute since I don't have a 4k TV yet, I figured I'd just wait it out a bit.

My meeting was starting late, so I checked both with MS and Best Buy quickly on my phone right at 11; both websites wouldn't load! So I said oh well; I guess it's not meant to be.

As I left my meeting at around 1pm I refreshed the MS site - Sold Out. I checked Best Buy and I could still pre-order! In hindsight I should have pulled over and order it on the side of the road, but instead I drove home first. Pulled out the laptop & could still pre-order, so I said Maybe it IS meant to be and got my pre-order in.

I guess it just depends now if I'll actually get it on time. Hopefully that's the case. Certainly was shocked to see it still available that late in the day. Hopefully it's not an error and I actually get one eventually lol
Mine was sort of similar with best buy. Since I have a few PC's in the house I wasn't going to worry about pre-ordering for now, would wait until early 2021 to pick up the new consoles. A friend from work wanted one so I was checking a few sites just before 10 to see. Let him know Gamestop had the queue and it looked like target was allowing me to add to cart.

As I was clicking checkout a handful of times, he let me know that he got one at walmart. So I quit, but left my queue position up on gamestop. I got in a call and about 20 min later I get a message from him that his queue from gamestop came up and he was able to get from there, so he decided he wanted that one so he could trade in towards the purchase. I checked my gamestop tab, I guess my turn came up but I wasnt paying attention since I was in the call so I missed that.

So at that point it seemed to be out everywhere, I did a few clicks but didn't make much of an effort. Best buy came available about an hour or so after that? I tried to get in, clicked a few times, no go, local store sold out, click delivery and it auto changes back to store pickup. Ok, no big deal sticking with next year.

1pm rolls around and I am on another call that I am just in but don't really have any tasks for. One of those FYI calls where people talk about some stuff that has no impact on me whatsoever. Browsing best buy for deal of the day and whatnot. As I am about to close out around 1:10, decide to check on the X again. Went directly to my cart, only 2 clicks to get through for in store pickup at my local store. Go back and check on the S (I am a collector and own every console) - goes into cart. Keeps telling me please try again or whatever as I click checkout...since I am in this call I'm just sitting there clicking over and over. Finally goes through for in store pickup after about 50 tries. ...and after I told my friend he was able to get an X from BB as well so we are going to midnight release together now.

So what started as just helping a friend and not really in a rush to get them, giving a quick check but no effort to rule release day out, magically turns into hey midnight pickup for both S and X and have a friend to go with... because I was in a boring call and was looking up other stuff. Sort of a fun day.

Funny thing is that the dude who tweeted it never took it down and the link he gave to Amazon now show the following

        https://www.amazon.com/gp/movers-and...1?ie=UTF8&pg=1

See who is #1 and see where do you find in top 100 any xbox one x consoles

Ars and Geoff Keighley already received Series X review/demo units.

If anyone has a extra PS5 preorder and want to trade for a Series X pm me to see if we can work something out. My preorder is through Amazon.

The fact that MS sent the console to all media 47 days before release tells you they feel confident in their product....

                This is great news

First to show the console, first to show price, first to ship out consoles to media outlets. Microsoft in my eyes has redeemed themselves after the 2013 Xbox one release. Lila you said this shows how good they feel about their consoles.

I really hate to sound fanboyish, but Phil Spencer has lead this team to what will be an amazing future. From 2013 to now is crazy.

                      2. The console has been discontinued and has 'discontinued' in its name.

                      3. The name may confuse some, but it's a minor issue

It would definitely be more confusing if the unit wasn't discontinued and still had units shipping to stores, but MS was quick to discontinue it before preorders started to open

And again, this isn't a 747% increase in units like everyone is reporting, it's sales rank difference

You're not confused but for someone who doesn't keep close tabs on consoles it is confusing. What would have been the problem with XBox 1 2 3?

It's not confusing, though. They're not going to be sitting on shelves next to each other.

You cannot name the xbox series x the xbox one 3 or 4....It has to matched the ps5 in number or like your claim of grandmas they will think xbox 4 is not as good as ps 5

the name might confuse some people but is not going to confuse the masses.

When grandma and grandpa roll into best buy or any retail store

MS will have Xbox One S/ Xbox Series S/ Xbox Series X

                          Sony will have PS4/ PS4 Pro/ PS5 Digital/ PS5 Standard

if little timmy wants the disc version of ps5 but grandma sees ps5 digital cheaper why is she not going to get confused about that?

But I guess they get confused with xbox

Also casuals do not buy consoles on pre order. Only hardcore sony and xbox fans do so they will know what to order.

The casuals buy during black friday the cheapest thing they can grab

If PS4 standard is 200 dollars on black friday or 150 the grandma and granpda will be buying that far more then 500 ps5

same for xbox. Black Friday or holiday season if all you can find is xbox series s for 300 that is the one to get for casuals who do not know any better or if they find xbox one s for 150 that is what they will buy but am sure MS and Sony will be sure to have stores not stock those consoles...Is business
