Yea he knows his stuff and always throws little jokes in his videos. And you’re correct on what he suggested and he shows why. He’s also correct because I have an oled and on the PS4 pro I used to set up the black levels where the sun was barely noticeable and it used to raise the black levels a bit. With OLEDs you get perfect blacks and don’t need any raised blacks so adjusting the sun where you can’t see is correct.
Yea if your TV only has 300 nits that tv isn’t worth using HDR as it’s most likely an 8 bit panel which isn’t true wide color for HDR. The brightness is way too low as well.
