One man's garbage is another man's treasure

Nice surprise on the announcement by Polyarc for Moss Book 2 which looks graphically next-gen! This is setting up for a GIANT soon to be announced item.

Nothing really for me there. But, I didn't have high expectations. Felt indie heavy, like it was a response to the recent negative publicity. I thought they would start off with Deathloop instead of end with it. Deathloop still doesn't do anything, but I have never been into First Person viewpoint games.

Probably won't get a big show until August

LOL...I find it kind of comical that a report came out just before this was released. I find it that Sony gives indies many opportunities to grow such as Quantic Dream, Supermassive, Naughty Dog .....etc. And this was a heavy indies as many past shows were. Hey, whatever.

However, I'm still sore at Sony. Their debacle to The Show Series with SOTS & C-OS this year has me in ?#$@&*%

Showcase was fine for what it was which per Sony, an Indies and third party showcase. When Deathloop is the main event, that should have told everyone something. lol

Quite a bit of gaslighting here. There was no 'report' - it was directly from indie devs and publishers (publicly) and then corroborated with other indies by journalists... a couple days later Sony announced this State of Play.

As for this presentation, a game or two I'm interested in. Deathloop once it hits Game Pass, and really interested in Sifu (and makes me want to try their other game in the meantime, Absolver) but curious how it will control. Likely a PC purchase unless they promote some PS5 benefits because of the hamstrung PS4 emulation on PS5.

Tribes of Midgard checks a lot of my boxes too.

I read that IGN editorial. Here were some of their complaints.

The conversation was kicked off by Neon Doctrine co-founder Iain Garner, who wrote a Twitter thread criticizing "Platform X," which he said was "a very successful console and does not have Game Pass."

"Two said it was extremely challenging or even expensive to get a single dev kit, pointing out that Xbox had provided dev kits to either themselves or colleagues easily, and for free."
I stopped reading and realized that it was some kind of propaganda.

Then why bring it up if you opted to not even understand what the issue was?

How specifically is it an editorial or propaganda? It's a news article, with sources you can view yourself still readily available and linked to in that article.

Would you prefer Bloomberg, Kotaku, Push Square, Playstation Lifestyle or Yahoo Finance? Plenty of other coverage (some with multiple articles/blogs, etc).

I understand what the optics are. Some small gaming studios wants to feel the love that Microsoft brings like game pass, free dev kits, and a simplified model for putting their game for sales and discounts.

When your a small time studio and you're complaining why "platform x" isn't give the same kind of love as Microsoft offers then I'm sorry to say I have to laugh. Microsoft is a 2 Trillion dollar company and can afford to go above and beyond plus game pass where they need every kinds of gaming studios to be on board. It is natural that Microsoft will now go heavy into the indies because they're going to need them. Sony seems to be focusing on larger indie studios. I don't need to read all the links when you're just identifying one studio and then say "some other studios". So it's not all of them but some?

All of these links say some studios so its not all of them? Sony is also providing a fund for Corona relief of $10M so to say Sony isn't helping support Indies is just ?

Point is, each platform has its pluses and minuses when dealing with developers and they'll bitch about everything one way or the other. Microsoft is showing more love to those who are smaller which is fine, but to say Sony doesn't help support indies because what Microsoft gives them is a non-story to me.

I'm not going to belabor the point, I don't care one way or the other really since we've got access to all of the platforms at home. I was just wondering why you just completely re-invented the entire issue to gaslight it.

Even now, half your last post doesn't make sense if you read just one of the articles.

It's all silly, we should be rooting for these developers, and for Sony to provide the supportive, indie-friendly platform that they advertise. Anyways, barring further replies I'll move on, think the point has been made.

So is there any near future where I can reliably get a PS5? BF2042 is coming out in the fall and I'm pretty sure I'll want to get my hands on one.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Why? I thought the whole purpose of an open forum is for discussion?

Anyway, I'll leave it at that also. All you need to do is read the words from those Devs that started this. It was plain and obvious from their 1st tweet. All I'm reading was "some feel this way"
