Buying from Sony Direct is the way to go. Very easy process and don't feel rushed in having to make the purchase. If you can do it that way, then I highly recommend it.

I believe I signed up late September/ early October. I honestly wasn't even planning to purchase it when I signed up, but with all the reports going around about another chip shortage and stocks being limited for the next few months, decided to buy it when I got the email.

Like I said, if you can go the Sony Direct route and don't mind waiting a few weeks to get put in their queue, then I would recommend doing that.

          Gotcha.

I just signed up for this past week so I was trying to get a possible estimate as to how long the wait would be but it doesn’t seem to be that long.

            I'm about 2 weeks in since signing up with Sony Direct. For those looking for the link;

Get the next PlayStation from PlayStation. Shop or gift PlayStation® 5 consoles and bundles directly from PlayStation.

I signed up, but I'm not sure I'll actually get one even if I manage to get in the queue. I'm still perfectly content with the PS4 Pro.

If a PS5 Pro is truly inevitable, my best bet is probably to wait for it.

Well the PS4 Pro came out 3 years after the PS4 but that was in a normal cycle.

I mean they could repeat that with the PS5 but I don't think this chip shortage is going away anytime soon and 2023 seems like a stretch. A PS5 Pro seems just as likely to run into the supply issue as a PS5 though. So a PS5 Pro will probably just as hard if not harder to acquire.

Got my PS5 today from Playstation Direct. Was amazed at how fast I got it. Ordered it Tuesday and got it today.

I am blown away by the graphics on this thing. I got the Miles Morales Spider-Man game and it looks stunning. Love the controller as well. Also amazed that there isn't really a sound coming from the PS5 when playing, where as my PS4 Pro sounds like like jet engine sometimes.

I got the disc version PS5 because I still like to occasionally get disc games but also the 4K player helped sell me, as I usually buy movies that I know I will watch more than once.

Definitely happy with purchasing when I got the chance. Continue to see more and more articles that they are getting harder to find the next few months.

I totally forgot about this even being a thing. I have both the PS5 and XSX now, and never hear any noise whatsoever from the consoles. It's incredible.

My PS5 is definitely quieter than my Thomas-the-Tank-Engine-sounding PS4, but I wouldn't exactly call it noiseless. Idk how everyone else is getting silence from theirs.

I can't hear mine in a quiet room unless I get about a foot from the console. Even then it's very faint. Think the only time it gets louder is a couple times while playing 2K.

Edit: I have the digital version.

At the risk of jinxing it, I’ve never had an issue with noise on my PS4 Pro. It runs a tad loud playing 2K but otherwise it’s pretty quiet.

About sound I never had a ps1 and ps2. Ps3 was my first sony console it was pretty quite got a slim after I got YLOD and it makes zero sound cant tell if its on or not. Ps4 I found was like more noise than slim but less than regular ps3. I never had a pro. So dont really understand how ps4 was bad with noise. Ps5 I find is like ps3 slim zero noise.

I don’t even have a ps5 game yet, but hyped for the god of war and horizon sequels coming and it won’t be any easier to get next year.

I’m using it to stream the ps3 Sly Cooper collection on PSNow.
