ps5 came in today along with several games I ordered.

Picture is beautiful and I love the large grip of controller.

My "other" storage was insane though. Apparently this is some kind of system reserved space, and it took up like 33% of my total space by the time I finished installing (most) of the games I picked up + pulling over data from my ps4. Decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on the WD SN850 1TB SSD with heatsink.

What is the recommended SSD to add to the PS5? I know it needs a heatsink and all, but I am curious what everyone is installing.

I grabbed the Gammix S70 Blade 1 TB for $130. To be a relatively inexpensive end, it tested out on the higher end of performance.

I have not had any real storage issues yet but I think that is helped by the fact that I don't keep a lot of games in rotation at once and that there haven't been very many PS5 exclusive games so I'm able to store most stuff on my 5 year old hard drive I got back when I purchased the PS4 Pro.

I also don't play COD. I think the base vanguard game requires close to 100gb.

At this rate I don't think I'll need any additional storage for a long time.

I play COD every year, I'm all digital as well and I needed the extra storage. I have an external 2tb SSD for all my PS4 games, and I bought a 2tb Aorus 2TB drive. I will not put anymore memory in my PS5 for the life of the of it, just too pricey. I believe I'll be ok for this generation.

Decided to get myself a PS5. Bought one for my son at launch but decided it was time for me to get my own. Downloaded the HotStock app on my phone, signed up for the premium version of the app (I think it is $6 a month) to get notifications for drops before the free app users and it paid off for me atleast. 2 days after signing up for the premium Hotstock app, I was able to secure a PS5 from BB on 1/5. Picked it up today, a day earlier than my estimated pick up time. HotStock worked great for me and a highly recommend dishing out for the premium version of the app if you are in the hunt for a PS5.

Be on the lookout for Walmart to drop tomorrow (Thursday 1/13 @ 3pm ET ) if you are a Walmart + member

Well, I had my first real technical issue with my PS5. A few days or so before Christmas I sat down to play The Show on the PS5 only to discover that the system wouldn't boot up. Every time I attempted to start it, it would get stuck on the PlayStation logo and freeze.

I contacted PS support and they were wonderful. After running through all the usual checks (i.e. restart, hard reboot, attempted Safe Mode startup, etc..), it was determined that the system had a fatal flaw and needed to be shipped off for repairs. Luckily, the system was still under the one year warranty period, so PlayStation support took care of everything. They paid for all the repairs and shipping costs. My system is supposed to arrive back to me tomorrow, so all in all it took roughly three weeks in total from breakdown to return.

I only write this to let others know that I had a very positive experience with PlayStation support. So many times we only hear about the negative side of corporations, and many times deservedly so, but I thought it would be nice to relay a positive experience about a company that stood behind its product and did what was right.

I dont understand that.

People want a PS5, so Sony makes more PS4s? Are there still people choosing to buy PS4s when for a few hundred more, and maybe a few more months of waiting, you can get a PS5?

Read this on Kotaku and think it gives a bit of context to Sony continuing to produce PS4s. Them continuing to produce PS4 really isn't a big deal and seems about par for the course if history is any indication.

Yeah though I'm not a huge cod fan that would be a shame.. there needs too be laws in place to stop monopolies as it's not fair to the consumer..
