Re: PlayStation 5
I think more and more people are viewing any kind of digital streaming/subscription service as being expendable or interchangeable from month to month. So it's not at all surprising to me to see subscriber gains stalling out or falling across the board, especially with all of the choices out there. If you can't find anything of interest on there you might switch to PC game pass, or just find something on steam instead.
Supposedly a lot of the loss came from PS4 owners feeling like they aren't getting as much value out of the service. Personally I felt the "you don't actually own anything" reality of this business model last month when a game that I was playing regularly was dropped out of the blue (to me anyway) and I just ended up buying it. That felt dumb but oh well.Comment

Still a very healthy number of subs, but PS+ memberships surprisingly declined with the rollout of the new take on the service.

That level of drop off is strange. My initial thought was that the ps4 is starting to feel especially old all of a sudden for some and they’re letting their subs go for the time being.
I know a few people who subscribed for a while during the last gen, and who probably would’ve picked up a 5 by now if it had ever been on a store shelf. Not to mention the small group of people who saw an Xbox available first and didn’t mind switching platforms.
In my own case, I forgot about the auto renew and then probably would’ve canceled the next year, but my kid was obsessed with Fall Guys at the time so I just let it roll over again. I had shifted to mostly PC in the interim and then eventually was able to grab a 5.
I dunno, could just be anecdotal, but I suspect a large portion of that drop is at least partially tied to the messy transition from last gen to current gen.

Part of the reason I paid for the extra benefits for a few months was because I wanted to play NBA 2K22 and I saw Red Dead Redemption (PS3) was available. 2K was more expensive than the cost of upgrading my membership so I chose that route. Shortly after they pulled Red Dead Redemption.
I then got invested in a Bulls MyGM and then one day I got on to play and couldn't load the game up. I was blindsided by it and frustrated. I waited about 2 weeks before finally just buying the disk version at a store because it was $20 compared to being full in the PS Store even though it was close to 2K23 release time.
I don't play games fast so now if I see something I'm afraid to even start it because it may be taken down before I can finish it. Having too many options is bad for my brain the same way it takes me forever to choose something to watch on an app like Netflix. I'll spend more time looking than I do playing. Having all of these extra games to try doesn't mean much when most of them are several years older anyways.. it's just not a very good service or worth the extra money.Last edited by AUChase; 11-03-2022, 10:13 AM.Comment

The same thing happened to me and I was disgruntled about it.

Re: PlayStation 5
5 more ratchet and clank games are being added to streaming or something and some new armor being added to rift apart. I am replaying rift apart for it's 20 year anniversary started last night so the new armor is nice but bummer about just having games to stream was hoping for some kind of ratchet collection like we got with the HD collection back in 2012 for the 10 year anniversary.Comment

I actually saw the unicorn on a shelf at Walmart....disc version too.
I shrieked in disbelief.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
Renewed my PS Plus for the year and dropped down to Extra. It was 25% off and Premium would've only been a $15 difference for the year. But, Premium isn't really worth it for me. A lot of the classic titles doesn't interest me. The only ones that would be the remastered ones.
If anything, I'll do what I did this summer which is upgrade to Premium, when the difference for the duration is only a couple dollars.Comment

Re: PlayStation 5
If they were to offer Funimation/Crunchyroll with Premium, I would definitely go with PremiumComment
