I'm not sure how true that is since I haven't seen this in person.
My friend 24inch Dell displays awful blacks.. He was playing Doom & could only get light grey..Killed the experience ibn my opinion..

      Re: LCD tv

One more question to add to those above...what are you guys doing with your center channel speaker? Currently I have it on top of the TV, but the new DLP/LCD screens have only a two inch or so lip, which isn't conducive to setting a speaker on. The new Sony system I'm buying has a three inch deep speaker, which will fit fine and fairly stable, I'm just wondering if there is another option. I've seen some with the center channel placed BELOW the TV on top of a component...will that work? Have any of you done it? I can place the speaker on top of my new DVD player/receiver...should I? Thanks again, and hopefully I can get some comments and answers to my inquiries.

Center speaker should always be as close to the tv as possible, do what you have to do, below or above preferred but on the side is an option.

A center channel on top of the tv is usually too high. The best placement is even with your ears where ever you normally watch tv. Usually below the tv is better.

Well I got this in my bedroom. I wanted the other one for my computer area so I can connect my PC and video games and leave the room to the misses.

Contrast level = 500:1....good or not?

                            Link

Though, at 700:1, many of the best quality LCD panels display sufficiently dark blacks to please even the most discriminating eyes.
