Sony 34XBR960. Still rated by Consumer reports as one of the finest HDTV's ever made. The 970 was crap, the tv that followed, just wasn't made as nice. Like I've said, yeah, it's only 34", but that doesn't bother me at all. Especially since I've had it professionally calibrated, everyone who has ever seen it, has been blown away by it's picture quality.

Their prices are expensive, but Sony's do produce when hell of a picture. That TV that RockyTop has the SXRD has an awesome picture and my eyes couldn't believe the quality. It rivaled many of the plasmas and LCD's that I was looking at also.

I have the new 55" SXRD and it's amazing. The new tech is great.

            LOL!

When I was looking at all the DLP's that were available, it came down to the Sony that yourself and RockyTop owns and the Samsung. It was the price that made a difference for me, but if I had that extra money I would for sure have gone with the Sony.

I have been pleased so far and I really like the addition of 1080p for BD movies + this has more digital components than the last TV too which is cool.

The only complaint I ever had with my DLP is the clarity in dark scenes. I had trouble making out images in the background, but after it was calibrated, I can.
after reading this i need my tv calibrated imediately because i thought i had a bad set while watchin dark scenes lol

Well, the guy I used is Chad Billheimer. His website is www.hdtvbychadb.com.

Just fill out the online form and wait for a response. It often takes a long time. I think it took me 2-3 months before he was able to fit me into his schedule. Also, don't be surprised if you don't hear back right away. His wife does his scheduling and isn't always prompt with emails IMO.

With all the hoopla around the new fixed pixel units - which is all we hear about these days and which of course is just what their manufacturers want, considering how expensive they are - it's easy to lose sight of tried and true triple-gun CRT technology. IMHO, it is still the best. It...

I completely agree with that first poster. Nothing will pry my CRT out of my hands at this point.

Co-sign. I love my 51incher. It gives a better picture than my dad's new 42inch plasma. Plus, if someone breaks into my house I know what they won't get. (It would take a 3-4 man crew).

Let us know how it is.

I have a dual tuner HD DVR from my cable company and it's pretty good. Not all the functionality as TiVO, but still good. I was looking at DirecTV and was wondering how good the HD DVR receiver was.
