Re: What is the difference between HDTV and EDTV

I just had to say that I ordered Voom, and the installer will be at my new home on the morning of May 11, the day after all my furniture arrives. Hopefully ESPN will be included by then!

Could someone tell me if it is really worth using the digital cable for the 5.1 sound from the TV? I only have to digital inputs on my receiver and I have them currently occupied with my Xbox (which I play most of my games on...especially sports) and for my DVD player. Should I switch the Xbox one for the TV? Thanks for all your help!

You only need the HD pack and an optical plug for 5.1

I know...I was just wondering if I should use my other digital sound input on my receiver for the TV or keep it for my Xbox? Any opinions? I'm leaning towards the Xbox because I don't watch many movies on TV (may change with HD), and mostly watch sports and news, since I'm at work much of the time.

Trust me, use it for the tv, and optical for the xbox. Or do as I do. When I want to play xbox, I move the optical cable to the HD pack. When I want to watch tv, I move it to the voom optical input, and the same for my dvd. It's not really a big hassle. Takes about 6 seconds.

Re: What is the difference between HDTV and EDTV

I recently received my HD tuner from my cable company (Time-Warner/Brighthouse).
Currently, the only offerings in my area are DiscoveryHD, NBCHD, and CBSHD.
It seems that all of Discovery Channel-HD programming is in Hi Def 24/7.
I shouldn't expect this to be the case with the other two networks channels should I? Only a select number of shows that appear in primetime (or some sporting events on the weekend) are actually broadcast in HD....is this correct?
                        Congratulations BUTLER BULL DOGS!

You are right. CBS shows most of their primetime programming in HD, while NBC's Tuesday nights is the most you'll see them fill their primetime programming. (for now at least)
