alrighty, if satellite's your way, then this is what you'll need:
1)either the sat-c upgrade or buy the oval 3-lnb dish
2)a HD-receiver that accepts both Directv and your antenna input (for locals)
3)you'll have to order the additonal HD-pack from Directv (ESPN-HD, Discovery-HD, HDnet, HDnet movies)..more channels will be coming shortly

Okay I see. So I can either buy the new dish, or the sat-c upgrade? Boy is this stuff complicated at first. BTW, how did Steve's HD problem ever turn out?

2. Directv 3-lnb dish with hughes platinum receiver...Terk tv-55 antenna for locals
3. Onkyo sr-601 audio receiver
4. Bose Acqoustimass speakers, built into walls of new house
5. Samsung progressive scan dvd player
6. My Ps2, and X-box of course

that's about it for now...what do you have or what are you looking at getting

Ok, I just looked at the house I'm closing on in Jan. The satelite dish is oval shaped, has "Direct TV plus" written on the dish, and has three "prongs", they look squared when you look right at them. What kind of dish do I have?

I have a 52 inch brand new model RCA High def 1080i compatible
Kenwood 500 watts 5.1 surround sound system

Basic directv package silver series from hughes

Toshiba DVD with dolby digital and DTS decoder built in

Xbox too of course.

I plan on upgrading all of this now, so this is why I am asking all of these questions.

I'm getting a progressive scan Samsung just as you are, and putting the Toshiba in the kids room.


And of course upgrading my satellite system one way or the other
