I'm sure it's going to be in the Unrated Edition DVD.

I saw it tonight. I give it two thumbs down out of three. Too many pointless scenes. And this was totally a chick-flick! Too many "give me a break" scenes. I know, horrible impressions, but hey movies aren't cutting it for me anymore.

I can't imagine what the DVD will be like. How can there possibly be any deleted scenes?

I'll bet PETA would have a problem with that.

That's kinda interesting that it dropped so much from Wednesday to Thursday. Oh well more room for me in the movie theatre!

Yikes 14 million for Friday, usually the biggest day for an opening weekend, this movie's bombing in Godzilla like proportions. Wait until you hear all the Leno and Lettermen jokes about it next week, it's gonna kill any staying power it might have. I'm thinking PJ and the Universal exec's won't be getting much sleep this week. They'll probably be happy if it makes over 100 million now.

Today is the crucial day for box office. If it doesn't gross around $20 million, Peter Jackson may have a bust on his hands. All is not lost, though. Titanic didn't have a tremendous opening either. It only grossed $28.6 million in its first weekend, but brought in about $60 million in the second. However unlikely, King Kong is something I thought might be able to challenge Titanic for #1 if allowed to remain in theatres for a while. Its appeal crosses many demographics.

it'll pick up just like Titanic, that's what Universal was banking on to begin with, watch around Christmas time and see the numbers skyrocket. And just to point out, this movie already made more than Titanic made opening weekend.

Nice try but Titanic was an anomoly, no other movie was #1 for so many weeks and very, very few have increased as weeks went by. The reason it opened badly was alot of negative press about bloated budgets and a Bond movie opened the same weekend. Alot of Titanic's audience was the female factor seeing it multiple times because of Leo and the love story. Because of it's historical context it appealed to older viewers as well. The demographic was much, much wider.

I don't think the teenage girls will feel the same about Kong as they did Leo, the movie was banking on an enormous opening weekend, but if it makes 40 Million and drops 50% next weekend Jackson will never live this down.

I think alot of critics and Jackson fans are watching this with rose colored glasses on because of LOTR. I've heard there is alot of unintentional laughter in theaters especially with that ice rink scene. I don't know anybody who has a desire to see this movie as they think it's a kids movie.

From the trailers I've seen the CGI of the fighting scenes and Kong in NY look like a video game and Kong fighting Trex's like Bruce Lee. That turned me and probably alot of movie goers from seeing it. The story is too silly for the average movie going adult and too boring for kids. It can't find an audience. The ending of this movie is so well known that sitting though a slow first hour and waiting for an ending that totally lacks any suspense doesn't sound appealing. PJ should have taken more liberties with the story and at least changed the setting of the ending.

Extenuating circumstances didn't seem to affect the last Harry Potter movie so if Kong makes less than 50 Mil on the weekend it will be considered a major bomb and I seriously doubt that it will have any staying power. I'm sure Universal won't be handing him any more limitless budgets to satisfy his childhood fantasies.
Did you even see the orginal one? A big ape with a hard on for a girl huh yeah thats what the movie is about are you kidding me! Box office numbers dont mean a movie is good or bad buddy and Jackson wanted to stay true to the orginal film in his remake. The firs King Kong is the reason Peter Jackson got into the movie business.

Titanic opened alone, the only other movie was The Postman with Kevin Costner.

I just got back from it, and while it was long, it was a really good movie. All my friends liked it as well, and we are all 16, if that matters.

Saw it Wednesday, don't wanna see it again. Whoever was put in charge of editing this movie shoud be shot! I felt stupid watching the ice skating scene but it was still funny, there was about 3 other pointless ones that I can't remember right now that should have never made it to the screen.

You also had Naomi Watts escaping a dinosaur, only to find herself next to another one 3 or 4 times in a row...

7/10, but could have been much better. Some of you Peter Jackson fans need to chill.
