Saw it eariler in the afternoon and I have to say, I really liked it. It's not really a horror movie, it's more or less a gorefest. Did it truly have a plot? not really, but the gore effects were awesome. I'm not gonna lie, I laughed quite a bit during the corse of the movie, its quite funny. I can't believe that got away with as much as they did and still keep the R rating. It's worth a watch if you have the stomach for it.

Think of it as Euro Trip meets Saw.

I'm a huge fan of Horror...but this new trend of capturing people and torturing and killing them for 2 hours is not Horror. It's glorified snuff.

Wolf Creek, Hostel, Devil's Rejects....watching people get maimed and tortured for basically no reason for 2 hours is not my idea of a good time.

Give me the old school horror flicks like Salem's Lot, Halloween, etc.

See No Evil? I saw a few trailers there... one had to do with some dead people getting onto computer screens or something? I don't know if that's the one, but if it is... it looked horrible.


As for Hostel... I just got back from seeing it. IMDB doesn't yet have a Tagline for this movie, so I'm going to give it to you here: Boobs and blood... in that order.

Remember, I am the guy that will pretty much like any movie, considering I'm even a big fan of The Ring, Final Destination, whatever. Anyway, against all odds (etc.) I went to see this movie. Hostel had terrific reviews, so I figured, "A horror movie with terrific reviews!? This is a MUST SEE!"



I'm going to tell you right now that I'm wondering if the movie was Hostel that was getting such rave reviews. This movie was crap! I don't want to spoil anything at all, but I don't think you're going to get out of this what you expected to get in to it. It's much more humorous than it is gory; I also thought I was watching a porno flick when I first walked in there. Granted, there was some nice tension in the gore that we see, and it was very brutal... but there was very little of it IMO.

The only movie that I never "allowed" anybody else to see was Broken Flowers. I will definitely "allow" people to see this... it was okay for a once-over. I'll never see this movie again, though. I can't believe that statement that was made that said people puked over this. It's much worse than Saw, and a little more over-the-top than Saw II (but not as much as it). I left the theater the same as everybody else, though... not clapping. NOBODY clapped at the end. I heard one too many "WEAK!" calls at the end.




Go see it, but walk in with low expectations, and not what the reviewers gave.

I haven't seen Devil's Rejects or Wolf Creek, but that's exactly what this kind of movie is... minus the 2 hours part. This movie was literally a "no motif" kind of deal, where it's torture for pleasure.

I'm glad you didn't include Saw in the mix, because that's very creative, with at least some motif behind Jigsaw.

Hmm... I don't know why, but for some reason I don't remember that movie (according to the description). I do remember seeing that title up on the screen, and I was like: "Hey, isn't that one of the Three Monkeys? Are they going to make two more or something?" I also remember seeing some WWE sponsor at the end of the trailer.

The trailers were rather short... only 4 or 5. The only ones that I can definitely recall are:


- See No Evil
- Final Destination 3
- Pulse
- Hard Candy
- V for Vendetta




Edit: Nevermind... the crappy movie I was thinking of was Pulse. I'm sorry, but for some reason I completely forget what the trailer for See No Evil was like. It completely blanked out. Unless I see some actual photos or the trailer itself again, I won't remember.

Okay... here's something that you need to know about Hostel. It's weird, because it's like, everything that they do is pretty good: gore, tension, horror (in general), acting, drama, editing (visuals), comedy, charm, unhealthy erotica, etc. But, when you slap them all together, it just doesn't come out right. The first half of the movie isn't even the same thing as the second half. IMO it slapped together and formed crap.

it'll make money, it only cost 4 million to make. I wish I could make something for 4 million dollars and almost be sure it was gonna make money cause my project was so cheap.
