Re: Oscar Nominations
Originally posted by SkerikIMO, the Academy Awards are kind of becoming a joke because it's all about which movies generate the most "buzz" and are pimped the most by their studios. That's why Crash got a nomination ahead of Walk the Line - because the studio that distributed it marketed the hell out of it and generated "buzz."
It, like most other award shows, is a popularity contest now. It's not about which movies are the best, but which are the darlings of the critics. And those are two very different things.
Crash is a great movie. Easily one of the best of the year. Didn't the Cash's daughter just come out and say "that's not how it happened"? That's never good for a movie claiming to be biographical right before Oscar time.
Awesome, finally Paul Giamatti gets a nod. Crash was one of my favorite movies so hopefully they bring in a coupleComment
