        Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye.

First broke the Motown mold of what's considered popular music and created socially conscious and groundbreaking music that trickled down to the beginning of hip hop.

Look at a lot of rap music now and you'd see a bit of the flow of West Indies in there. Maybe I'm being goofy with my mindset but I think that it's more in there than you'd think.......

Id say John Lennon. Listen to "I Am the Walrus" and Lennon sounds like he's rapping well before rap got big. I dont know if there is any correlation between that and rap music, but its cool that John Lennon was rapping 40 years ago.

Hands down without a doubt, James Brown. Every rap song made has the Godfather of soul to thank for his contribution to music. James single handedly created funk and was the predecessor to George Clinton (james taught him, Bootsy collins and many others). From P.E. to M&M they all have james to thank.

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)
