Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye.
First broke the Motown mold of what's considered popular music and created socially conscious and groundbreaking music that trickled down to the beginning of hip hop."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Id say John Lennon. Listen to "I Am the Walrus" and Lennon sounds like he's rapping well before rap got big. I dont know if there is any correlation between that and rap music, but its cool that John Lennon was rapping 40 years ago.Founder/President of the OS Rams ClubComment

Hands down without a doubt, James Brown. Every rap song made has the Godfather of soul to thank for his contribution to music. James single handedly created funk and was the predecessor to George Clinton (james taught him, Bootsy collins and many others). From P.E. to M&M they all have james to thank.Comment

If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment
