Re: Sopranos Season 6
This is the first time I've poked my head in this thread because I just finished watching all 6 Seasons. Unreal experience, took me about 5 weeks. Great show, can't believe some of the storylines. I think, however I may be homophobic after witnessing the whole Vito storyline.Comment

Re: Sopranos Season 6
There will be a movie but it won't be for several years to build up the hype. The movie will be box office gold and Chase will not turn down that kind of money even if he's sick of doing it.
Based on the future movie scenario my prediction is 3 characters will definately not die. Tony, Paulie and Chris. Tony for obvious reasons, Not Chris because they've spent too much time fleshing out his character to kill him now and Paulie simply because he's funny and he's the most appealing secondary character. These 3 characters are needed to sell the movie at minimum.
My money is on Silvio getting whacked as his character has always been one dimensional and will not be missed and I honestly think that Carmela is either getting whacked or dies tragically because the Tony\Carmela relationship has been played out and it would add to the shock value.
The most appealing part of the show has always been the family\slice of life aspect of a gangster's family that shows they have the same problems as everyone else. However this wouldn't translate well in a 2 1/2 hour movie where you have to cram everything in. Not to mention the kids will be grown so there's no value in pursuing that for a movie where it has to be more action and gangster orientated to appeal to the masses. This makes Carmela expendable and lets Tony's character go in a different direction for the movie. Movie goers don't want to see Carmela whine yet again for the movie. It would also provide fresh material for Tony's therapy sessions and add to his tragic circumstances.Last edited by Seymour Scagnetti; 03-27-2007, 10:10 PM.Comment

i thought i read the movie was supposed to be a prequel, like tony's earlier years and how he grew up in the mafia. but then maybe i'm crazy too..Streaming PC & PS5 games, join me most nights after 6:00pm ET on TwitchTV https://www.twitch.tv/shaunh20

Re: Sopranos Season 6
The official word right now is that Chase wants to do movies, but not necessarily a Sopranos movie unless a script or storyline comes along that blows him away. And the idea of a prequel came up, but then you have the problem of the actors becoming older while playing themselves younger. Plus, Gandolfini sounds sick to death of portraying Tony Soprano. But money always talks, so we'll see.
Put it this way-I don't think he's going to mold these final episodes around a possible movie. This is the end as it was meant to be.
Speaking of the final episodes, a lot of the media have screened the first two episodes and the reviews have been excellent.Comment

Re: Sopranos Season 6
you were right vanity fair. i checked it out today. OK, they didnt say "a movie is in the works" but it said chase has the biggest "calling card" movie in history and he says he has alot of unused scripts, proffesional and amateur scripts and he is tight lipped on if he will be using any of them for the movie. it was in like the second to last paragraph after it continued on page 280. i gotta say they gave this guy chase alot of space in this magizine. I just skimmed it and was there leike a half hour. it was a big write up.Comment

Re: Sopranos Season 6
LOL, I think he means Cleaver, the mafia slasher flick Christopher is putting together.
As far as a real movie is concerned..eh. I don't know. With all due respect to David Chase, cinema and television are similar but not the same animal. The Sopranos have hit some dry or odd patches here and there, and expectations would put anything OC related Chase does with the best of Scorsese and Coppola.
Basically, insurmountable hype leading to disappointment (ala The Matrix Reloaded, The Godfather Part III, etc.).D E S E R V E_V I C T O R YR.I.P. Sean Taylor (1983-2007), a True CaneComment

I really think Chase has said all he wants with these characters in the 86 hours it'll take to finish the series. As I said before, money talkks so we'll see.Comment
