I asked the same question a couple months ago. Almost every answer said to pick up "Godlovesugly."

If hiphop were politics, I'd be on the right-wing backpack fence, but I must admit this is becoming my favorite album of the year....

One of the better produced albums I've heard in a while, sic rhymes and no ****ty *** 20 second skits. T.I. just rips it, not to mention 'why you wanna' has the illest sample I've heard in some time.

I like TI but I still don't like KING as much as Trap Muzik. That was a very underrated album. But yeah, Why you wanna is one of my favorite songs on the album.

Trap Muzik was his second one, right?

I mix I'm Serious and Trap Muzik up sometimes. But I agree on TM (if I am thinking of the right one) being underrated. I liked it a little more than Urban Legend in some spots.

Just Blaze and T.I. absolutely killed I'm Talkin To You. The wordplay/flow TI had on the third verse I think it is, is just sick.

Only song I don't like on that album is the one with Jamie Foxx.

Yeah Trap Muzik was the second. Urban Legend was very dissapointing to me. I forgot about I'm Talkin To You, that's a great song.

Random question: What's the best beat RZA has ever made?

I say its Guillotine (Swordz) from the Only Built..., or Verbal Intercourse on the same CD.

Not trying to steal your thunder, but just wanted to let you guys know Ugly Duckling's new album is dropping soon. I've heard 4 of the songs so far (if you have iTunes, you can preview all the songs) and I can't wait to pick this one up. Any other UD fans?

edit: lol, forgot to say you got a nice list. Not a lot I agree with, but it's your list and not mine and that's what makes hip hop so great is that there's so many different sounds and styles out there. I must ask one question though: it's cool you're a KanYe fan, I loved College Dropout, but Through the Wire on your top 25? I wouldn't even put that in my top 3 KanYe songs. Just my opinion man, don't take anything from it.

LOL yeah... that song by Kanye caught my ears when I first heard it, and got me into some Kanye West...

Yeah, the Ugly Duckling cd is looking pretty good...

Its produced by DJ Einstein (whoever that is?) ... just thought I'd throw that in there... but I don't think I'm going to get it unless it recieves good reviews from you guys. Maybe JMood will listen to it, cause I tend to like all the songs he likes.

Do yourself a favor and go have a listen to "Just a Little Samba" by Ugly Duckling. It's one of their older songs, but it's great and the songs on the new album are sounding similar to it so far. I would pick up the album today but I gotta go to work soon and the record stores won't be open when I get off so I guess it's tomorrow.

I actually haven't heard an ugly duckling song before. I've heard of them but I've just never listened to their stuff for whatever reason. I'll try to find some songs to listen to.

i'm relatively new to hip-hop (got into the genre about six months ago, which would probably explain why these songs are probably well known).. but here's my top 10 list in no particular order:

Silent Treatment (Live version is better than album)- The Roots
                              Hypnotic- The Roots
                              You Got Me- The Roots
                              The Blast- Talib Kweli
                              Faithful- Common
                              Brown Skin Lady- Black Star
Thieves in the Night- Black Star
                              Respiration- Black Star
Reality Check- Binary Star (thanks to the person who posted this song, i would've never heard of them)
                              Another World- Black Star

Silent Treatment (Live version is better than album)- The Roots
                                Hypnotic- The Roots
                                You Got Me- The Roots
                                The Blast- Talib Kweli
                                Faithful- Common
                                Brown Skin Lady- Black Star
Thieves in the Night- Black Star
                                Respiration- Black Star
Reality Check- Binary Star (thanks to the person who posted this song, i would've never heard of them)
                                Another World- Black Star

When I first got in to hip hop, I was listening to the exact same stuff. By the way, it was me who posted the Binary Star song. They got lots of good songs though so go check 'em out. Since you recently got into hip hop and you have the same tastes as I did when I frst started listening, I'll give you some other artists that you will definitely want to hear:

                                Jurassic 5
Mos Def - Black on Both Sides
                                People Under the Stairs
                                Dilated Peoples
                                Deltron 3030
                                Hieroglyphics
A Tribe Called Quest ("Low End Theory" is my favorite album by them)
                                Atmosphere
                                Murs
                                Felt
                                Blackalicious
                                Zion I

I could keep going, but this should be enough to get you started. Hope this helps.
