Have you ever listened to Operation: Doomsday? Flow is impeccable on that entire album.

I love Doom (not in that way fellas). MMFood had some great Sade samples on it.

To this day Fancy Clown might be my favorite song. Only bad thing about Doom is that his songs are so damn short. Fancy Clown, All Caps, and pretty much all the bangers off Madvillian are all under 2:30

Nah, I'll check it out. I've always been a huge fan of his production and his entire gimmick (I'm a huge Dr. Doom fan myself), but I can never stand his flow or his inability to keep it consistent over whichever beat he was on, but I'll check this one out.

                  Re: fans of underground rap?

Very late to this thread but underground hip hop died a long time ago. The death of underground hip hop started with "nerd rap". This whole we are keeping it real while the mainstream is killing the culture is old.

Underground hip hop was at its best back in 92-96 in my opinion. You had people like Gang Starr , Jeru , Nas , BCC , DITC , Group Home , Hieroglyphics ect..

The late 90's had some impressive underground acts as well.

                  Black Star
                  Dilated Peoples
                  Mr. Lif
                  Akrobatik
                  Binary Star
                  (old) Atmosphere
Company Flow (before El-P went emo)
                  Shabaam Shadeeq

Today we have ....... nothing I really want to listen to

I could write a book about how ignorant your last comment was, but the sheer fact that this is one of the most viewed and replied threads in OS history is enough testament on the state of underground hiphop music today.

I also find it funny you mention "Old" Atmosphere as one of your favorite acts yet you hate on EL-P for going "emo."

Yes old Atmosphere was good. Sleven and Overcast bother are good albums. The old headshots tapes plus the dynospectrum tape was also good.

Also this may be a most viewed thread but that means nothing. Brittney Spears is the number one single in the country right now. So if you are going by most viewed and replied then it means nothing. Lots of people like crap music and my opinion is underground hip hop today is trash.

I respect it I just don't like it.

You like what you like...that's pretty much all that matters.

                          I disagree with your opinion.

Brittney spears is a mainstream artist, who's music is readily accessible. Can you honestly say the same thing about underground hiphop music? Good music breeds good discussion, and like I said before, this thread is a testament to the state of underground hiphop today. I respect your opinion, if you don't like underground hiphop and you think it's trash...cool beans. I don't expect people to share the same opinions on everything, but I think you owe it to yourself to go through this thread and actually do your research before you say something as ignorant as underground hiphop is dead.

To quote EL-P aka Mr. Emo:

That's why I always get respect from true soldiers
That laugh at the critics claiming every year: "Hip hop's over."
**** YOU, hip hop just started
It's funny how the most nostalgic cats are the ones who were never part of it
Cameras or guns, one of them is gonna shoot me to death.

Nerd rap? Man, you need to check out some Murs and Brother Ali. I'm not even sure what nerd rap is - all I can think of is maybe Deltron 3030. I've heard it called backpack rap and can see that correlation, but nerd rap not so much. Or, if you want to go by song by song, check out DJ Z-Trip's "Breakfast Club." I don't think its possible for anybody to dislike that track.
