So what is your critera for good underground hip-hop, because in my mind 2004-Present has been an unbelieveable time for the underground rap scene.

Just curious what these new guys do that is "nerd rap" as opposed to what the undergrounds of the time you mentioned.

I'm just wondering where you're coming from because underground has hit a resurrgance, in my mind.

Not sure what I think about him on this beat, but it's nice to see him spitting again. I didn't even know he has a new album coming out soon.
Hopefully he puts some more effort into it than True Magic. That whole album was a bore-off and it's sad because hes so much better than that.

I don't know how anyone can seriously say that there hasn't been good stuff released the past few years. If there was no good underground rap then I would be listening exclusively to old jazz albums right now.

That's why I'm trying to figure out what exactly his "criteria" is because most everyone who is a fan of underground hip-hop from past or present has found SOMETHING good in the past few years.

You can't even argue with him. He says that most underground rap nowadays is garbage, but he doesn't find himself checking for new artists....which tells me that he doesn't even WANT to find good underground rap.

lets give the guy a break, it's just his opinion....obviously he has a slightly different taste in music than most of us.

anyway....Black Milk has been one of my favorite artists ever since I was blown away by Popular Demand. That stayed in my cd player for months on end. Him and Royce are probably my top two artists at the moment. Below them is maybe Chaundon and Jean Grae and a whole host of people that I don't even want to start thinking about off the top of my head.

Agreed, True magic was tragic IMO.

and the fact that Black Milk flows nasty AND produces nasty puts him at high level for me. Best producer of 2008 for sure.

EDIT: My favorite song from Tronic:

Anyone have a relatively new 9th wonder instrumentals?

I only have that old but massive 9th instrumental album that was all over the net about a year and half ago.

Black Milks album release party is 2morrow at St. Andrews with Guilty Simpson, Slum Vilage, and very underated Danny Brown, Ima pick up the cd there.
