I'm still gonna buy it, but I had to hear it when I saw it leaked. Definitely an album of the year candidate, Slug and Ant may have outdone themselves on this one.

What's the different between regular and deluxe editions?

This new Atmosphere album is actually...sad. As in, emotionally sad.

Deluxe has a nice case, a children's book, and Sad Clown 13 (I don't know if this is a DVD or another addition to the series)

Honestly The Waitress is really, really sad. It's the song where you hear the last word and you immediately play it over.

Co-sign. Hell, I can relate EVERY WORD to yesterday with my ex-girlfriend and it's about slug's dad.

                I co-sign with you.

I sent it to mine. But we're close anyways so it's cool.

This one has the punch line at the end but to me it didn't even compare to The Waitress.

Here are my top 5 off the album:
                1) Puppets - build up and beat and background female are perfect
                2) Wild Wild Horses - love to story and and chorus/beat
                3) The Waitress - as discussed, it's the most emotional track on the album IMO
                4) Guarantees - one take? Talk about nailing it.
                5) Yesterday - I love the piano and the story hits close to home

I am thoroughly impressed with the album and the new sound they gave us.

                  Re: fans of underground rap?

I'm really torn on this album...it's phenominal, but it's ****ing with my head. Tracks like yesterday/wild wild horses/waitress really make me want to call up my ex-girlfriend and patch things up.(I broke it off, but all those tracks relate to our breakup) Like 3rd said, this is a great album, but it's a very sad/emotional album. I've never really considered slug an "Emo-rapper" but albums like this make me reconsider. I can't listen to this album when I'm in a good mood, it just brings me down.

It's a great, great album probably their greatest work to date...just can't listen to it right now.

Really feelin' it. Guarantees is probably my favorite track. Definitely loving the diversity on the album. Also like You, as it switches up from the mellowness of most of the track. I have a feeling this is gonna be on rotation for a while.

                      Re: fans of underground rap?

Slug is definitely an emo-rapper... and my roomie agrees. That being said, I'm not a fan of Slug, or this album. Surprisingly though, I liked Ant's beats... they were the strong point for the most part.

I just can't get into anything Slug says, but I'll admit, the X*Cell of three years ago would have thought differently. Now-a-days I love the Jozeemo gangsta swag, the Styles P weed-smoke talk, and the Royce Da 5'9" mic slaughtering.

That's just me though. I'm glad this thread is going through a surge in posts because it's the greatest thread ever at OS!!!

Everyone likes what they like man, that's why music is beautiful. So many sounds out there to pretty much please everyone.

You know I just connect with what Slug says and I love most of his stories. I really feel his style and the beats its over...amazing.

I try to get into Little Brother and stuff...I really like it...however it's not aimed towards me. Royce isn't for me...his lyrics just don't relate with me. There is definitely the whole race discussion that can pop up here. I'm not trying to go into things but I'm just saying I love good music. It sucks that some awesome tracks contain lyrics that make me not want to listen to them because it's obvious they aren't for me.

Not that Atmosphere is aimed specifically for me...I just feel like it's not aimed towards anyone specific...and that leads to a huge following.

That same song "Yesterday" made me think about my ex-girlfriend too. Same situation too bro. I broke it off and she moved far away...I am constantly thinking about her with this album man.

oh, don't take my post as demonstrating critique of his talent. I think that anyone who can keep on going album to album has some appeal that gives them a following otherwise they'd be at a standstill. I respect what all-a-yall like, and I'm not calling your tastes inferior to mine. I was just providing my opinion on what is a very celebrated album on this board. Even though this got an 80% from me, it doesn't mean that I don't think Atmosphere could be Group of the Year this year. Appeal is a whole 'nother element that is so special because it's supposed to be picked by your own opinion.

I didn't take it like that. I pretty much just had a thought and went off on a tangent.

I will say that I get caught up sometimes in the "elitism" of musical taste.
