Nas... OVERRATED? LMAO the man dropped illmatic, it was written (the lyrics, flow, rhyme pattern, damn near unmatched the year that lp dropped... WAY ahead of it's time), Stillmatic, I Am, Lost Tapes... not to mention every portion of the foulness... defeated the so called greatest of all time in one of the best battles to grace hip hop... had arguably the best verse on raekwon's "Only Built 4 Cuban Linx" (which is a great feat cuz that album is BONKERS)... blessed dj clue with CRAZY freestyles and gems... best verse on Sway & Tech's Wake Up Show promo (the joint with him, Lauryn Hill, Organized Konfusion, Ras Kass, etc) even had biggie sayin Nas should have won lyricist of the year @ the source awards (when the source was credible), etc etc etc, 2pac mentioned Nas as the "ring leader"... There's few emcee's that have even surpassed Nas' unreleased tracks... c mon man... Nas is everything BUT overrated lol.

thats wrong best verse i've ever heard on the wake up show is rom biggie, how many albums has he had ? and u can only bring those to me, his latest **** is horrible, and it wasnt even a battle nas was one and done, his freestyles are decent at best not gems, nas has fallen his recent stuff shows me he's not consistent.

best verse on wake up is

          [Notorious B.I.G.]
Uh, uh I'm flamin' gats, aimin' at
These...maniacs, put my names in raps
What part, the game is that, like ya hustle backwards
I smoke backwards and Dutch Eas can't touch me
Try to rush me, slugs go touchy touchy
Ya bleedin' lovely with yo spirit above me
All beneath me, ya whole life ya live sleepy
          Now ya rest eternally sleepy
Ya burn when ya creep me
Rest where the worms and the weak be
My nine flies, baptize rap guys
With the holy ghost, I put holes in most
You hold ya toast shakey, slip and try to break me
Look what you made me do, brains blew
My team in the Marine blue, six coupe
          Skeeted out, weeded out

          [Notorious B.I.G.]
Niggas in my faction don't like askin' questions
          Strictly gun testin', coat measurin'
          Givin' pleasurin' the Benzito
Hittin' fannies, spendin' chips and Manny's
          Hope you creeps got receipts
My peeps get dirty like cleats
Run up in ya crib wrap you in ya Polo sheets
Six up in ya wig, peace
***** deceased, mwa may you rest in peace
With my Sycamore style, more sicker than yours
          Four-four and fifty-four draws
As my pilot, steers my Leer, yes my dear
****'s official, only the Feds I fear
Here's a tissue, stop the blod clot cryin'
The kids, the dog everybody dyin' no lyin'
          So don't you get suspicious
I'm BIG dangerous, ya just a little viscious
As I leave my competition respirator style
Climbed the ladder to success escalator style
          Hold y'all breath I told y'all
          Death controls y'all, BIG don't fold y'all
Uh, I spit phrases that'll thrill you
You're nobody till somebody kills you

          IMO.

          and im missing a verse

Flip the names and you got me. Nas is my fav but im not mad at all at MTV or anyone else who has Jay at #1, but when Pac consistently gets top 3-5 honors, I get mad. Nas had all the socially concious topics that pac had but 100x the lyrical ability.

Nas' verse on the wake up show > those biggie verses you put up. Nas ain't fall off nothin, his latest freestyle (Jackin 4 Beats) proved that... God's Son was a hot lp, Streets Disciple grew on me (with tracks like Rest Of Our Lives, Sekou Story, Live Now, Message 2 The Feds, Remember The Times, War, Coon Picnic)

granted Nas has his wack stuff, but who doesn't. But you are the first person I've ever seen call Nas overrated.

Tupac deserves to be at #2. NO other rapper has created material more relevant than Pacs. What he lacked is lyrical ability, he made up for in power and emotion.

Switch 1 and 5 or maybe 1 and 4 and you have a solid list.

Nas' catalog is probaly the greatest of any rap artist ever. He went from songs like It Ain't Hard To Tell to I Gave You Power to Nas Is Like to Doo Rags to Dance and I Can to War. His evolution and versatility throughout his career is unmatched.
"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."

I just dont understand statements like that. What does emotion have to do with? Like someone said earlier DMX was powerful and emotional and no one says he is a top 10 rapper. Same goes for MOP. Lyrical Ability is the #1 thing for a rapper. I just dont see how anyone can rank Pac over rappers like KRS or Jay or Nas or Rakim when people openly admit that he isnt a lyricist.

No need to have him PM you the biggie joint. Those verses are just recycled from his second LP, Life After Death. The 1st verse he posted is from "long kiss goodnight" (diss to pac), the second verse is from "your nobody til somebody kills you". Big just recycled rhymes from his LP. Those verses have since been recycled yet again on "Born Again" and "Duets" at least once im sure.
