They're have been better "lyricists" than Nas, Rakim, and Jay. What made them top MC's though and what Pac does almost better than anybody is his flow, the relevance to what he is saying, and his ability to make you relate and feel what he is trying to convey. A whole lot of cats can throw out a bunch of slick metaphors, but they can't make it mean something like the why Pac did it.

Man, X was better than Pac IMO. Most people would say that all his albums before the "Great Depression" were absolute classics.Comment

Originally posted by aholbert32This always cracks me up. I remember back in 95' before Pac's death, NOBODY was saying he was a top lyricist. He was definetly popular but no one would rate him over a Rakim or KRS back then. Its funny how dying makes you a better rapper.
Just ask all these people who think Pac is the best rapper ever to name all of his albums off the top of their heads. I'll bet $100 that they can't do it. All they got is his friggen Greatest Hits that dropped in '97 and a few post-humous albums."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

What makes KRS or Jay or Nas a top 10 rapper is the combination of a nice flow and lyrics. Pac is missing one of the key components.Comment
