The US has dominated since the 1980 or so, once Zeppelin, The Who and Pink Floyd all officially flamed out(and the Stones had lost relevance). Radiohead is really the only band of the past 15 years that would get serious consideration for the best band of the era, at least IMO.

Well, that was until the Arctic Monkeys who are clearly the best, most important human beings ever to grace earth with their presence.
While the mags are all over their nuts, yes. They are also a good band(one of the best to come out of England in a long time, IMO), But you most also remember that they only have one album out right now, so let's wait a while before juding one way or the other.

Back on topic, I've always enjoyed CCR even if I am a youngin'.

You're right, their album is actually pretty good. But far from earth-shattering and probably isn't one of the 10 best debut albums of the 00s. Well, I'll say not in the top 5 just to be safe. Still, FAR from what it was being hyped as.

Right now? I know Thriller and Their Greatest Hits keep going back and forth.

As of 11 months ago The Eagles were at 28 Million, Thriller at 26.

The 11 Million Club is disgusting, save Sgt. Peppers and James Taylor. That must be the peak for absolutely terrible albums

No matter how many times I read it, I still can't believe "Cracked Rear View" and "Jagged Little Pill" sold 16 million ****ing records.

            Souls were sold. I'm positive.

ANyway, although Pearl Jam is my personal favorite band ever, I'd have to say the Ramones, and I think PJ would agree with me.

Damn, why does the U.K. have it over on us so bad?
They are actually better then people realize, sure they were not on the same level as Jimmy, but they were highly look at as top musician!

I agree, while not my favorite, the best american band for me is probably the eagles.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, hands down IMO. Too bad not many people share that opinion with me.

EDIT: Now that I go back and read the posts, I see I'm not alone thanks to pk.

It's hard to take the band's legacy seriously when the lead drummer is a goofy sidekick to a late night talk show host.

Eagles are up there, Im not a bruce springsteen fan, but they have their spot in the list I usppose. GNR is perhaps my favorite all time band for that genre. A couple of names that no one has said yet, but I think are great bands are Black Crowes, Aerosmith and KISS.

BTW, I just got six tickets to GNR's May concert here in NYC. Slash and Duff are rumored to be reuniting with Axl.
