I just don't buy Craig as Bond... Of course I'll see it opening weekend, but I'm still not very excited about this movie.

I think you should be excited tho as i've heard this film really goes back to the Bond roots with an Ian Fleming feel to it.

I haven't seen enough of the New Bond in this trailer so I can't judge but at least he isn't a total pretty boy like some of the Bonds post-Connery.

I think it looks pretty sweet... everything moves so fast that it's kind of hard to tell what's going on.

Yeah... It was like when James Bond captured a girls heart, it was because they fell in love with the whole deal... he was a fierce and gritty dude with a touch of sophistication. But with guys like Pierce Brosnan... it didn't matter if he was a total puss, cause his looks already achieved the Bond "womanizing" goal.

I really dig Craig so I'm more excited about this Bond then I ever have been.

He and Clive Owen are probably my favorite actors these days.

I would have much prefered Clive Owen as Bond rather than Craig... Owen's work on the BMW series showed he could pull off the Bond type very easily.

I would have preferred Clive Owen as well, but he supposedly turned them down. I think Daniel Craig will do decent in the role. My favorite Bond was George Lazenby (he was who I pictured when reading Ian Fleming because he so fit the role) in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. I also enjoyed both Sean Connery and Timothy Dalton as well and didn't particularly care for Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out. Some of the Brosnan movies were pretty terrible. Not really his fault, the writing was pretty bad.

I loved OHMSS! That movie is the quintessential Bond to me. Lazenby never got a fair shake IMO.

I consider OHMSS as the best Bond film ever.

As for Roger Moore, I thought he did a credible job, yes his Bond got pretty campy by the end of his run but I rank Moonraker and The Spy Who Loved Me as some of the better Bond films so I can't complain TOO much about Moore.

I never liked Dalton, he was too boring for my tastes.

Connery was the only Credible Bond as he brought a coolness and charisma that all the others didn't have an iota of. Lazenby was OK but he was simply filler until Connery decided to come back for one more and he was lucky enough to be in one of the better made films. Roger Moore ruined the franchise by acting tongue in cheek and all of his movies are terrible and are now unwatchable as he became a caricature. Unfortuanately box office receipts became more important than integrity even though he should have been canned after his 1st try. Dalton had potential because at least he took the role seriously but lacked charisma. Remington Steele was putrid in the role and for some reason they wanted someone like Moore because I can't think of any other reason why he was chosen. If this Bond is grittier like they say then we'll finally have the 1st decent Bond film since the 60's. Hopefully they give Craig a chance and don't dump him for a bubblegum Bond again.

So I guess you don't like The Spy Who Loved Me? It's undoubtedly Roger Moore's best outing as Bond.

                          Re: Casino Royale...the new Bond

Id have to rank my favorite of each of the Bonds like this

Sean Connery-You Only Live Twice. Great soundtrack, good action. It's my favorite of the Connery Bonds with From Russia with Love coming in a close second

Lazenby-My favorite Bond and my favorite Bond Movie. On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Roger Moore-Live and Let Die. I loved the New Orleans stuff as well as Jane Seymour being the Bond girl of sorts. I view Roger Moore as being "too campy" to fulfill Fleming's idea of Bond.

Timothy Dalton-Licence to Kill. He and Lazenby are perhaps the best representation of Ian Fleming's Bond character, but this movie along with the Living Daylights didn't do so well

Pierce Brosnan-I haven't really enjoyed any of Brosnan's roles as Bond. He's my least favorite and I'm glad to see him gone.

I also really don't care for Dame Judy Dench playing the M character. I much preferred Bernard Lee as M, and while I do enjoy John Cleese as "R", I so miss Desmond Llewellyn (R.I.P) as Agent Q. I do dig the new Moneypenny though. She's very attractive and kind of puts to rest the fact that Moneypenny wasn't attractive in the first few movies. I think that Daniel Craig will do decently as Bond, and while I'd have rather had Clive Owen as he's sort of the Dark Broody Englishman type of character that Ian Fleming envisioned for the James Bond Character, Craig will have to do. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with the role, and with the name of the new film being Casino Royale, I hope it means a return to the Bond of old, and not a rehash of what we've seen in the Brosnan era. The beauty of the Connery and Lazenby Bond movies was a better story with less gadgets.

Saying that was Moore's best outing as Bond is like saying Pauly Shore's best role was in Biodome. I still haven't recovered from Moonraker and Live and Let Die (or whatever that stupid movie was where he takes on Harlem while jumping alligators) so nothing in The Spy Who Loved Me can fix that unless you enjoy wooden acting and alot of smirking. In fact if they made Pauly Shore play Bond in those movies I don't think there would have been much difference.
