I actually did read the civil war arc a few years ago, to restate my earlier question how is the marvel unlimited digital comic app and what are some crossover stories that are worth reading

Big time upcoming Marvel 616 universe spoiler.

I can't believe no one has posted this yet. I roll with most changes pretty well, because they are usually temporary, and can have an interesting story, but I'm not feeling this change at all.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

I said on twitter that Im all for the equality and adding more positive diverse roles a la the new Hindi Ms. Marvel and Miles Morales as Spider-Man (both have great writing btw. Sampled both) but this feels like pandering and disingenuous.

What's hilarious about this is that it was released by Whoopi Goldberg on The View.

          Whoopi. Goldberg.

Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow was a pretty cool animated film and the Thor character featured was a female (Thor's daughter). I thought it was cool.

Thor now has a sister too; GotG Character Angela, who was originally a Spawn character that Marvel bought the rights to some time ago.

I've got no issues with it. Origin story may be a little hoky, but its only one ret-con away from having never happened!

Marvel made it official on the Colbert report, The Falcon will become Captain America in November's All New Captain America.

Some rumors a Superior Iron Man will be announced at SDCC.

I can understand someone else possessing Mjolnir & Thor's power, but Thor is a person, not a title. Was Beta Ray Bill called "Thor" back in the day?

Avengers NOW! Initiative spoiled early by EW.

Well then... judging by how much the Bleeding Cool team has been glued to their computer screens 'round the clock over the past few days, you'd

10 or more titles in the works related to it.

Regarding Thor: Isn't there already a female Thor analogue? I forget her name but she was in the current/last iteration of The Defenders. Why can't they just use her and put "Thor" on the backburner.

WHY? WHY ARE THEY DOING THIS!!! Too....Many.....Avengers!

I've literally stopped reading any of the Avengers books because of this. (Okay, the other reason is that the stories just don't resonate with me)

                      Now onto something completely different.....

I just read Life with Archie #36 and I must say it was a nice trip down memory lane. You don't even need to have been reading the Life with Archie series to know what's going on. I thought the issue was handled beautifully. Apparently there's one issue left where we see the surviving characters one year later. I'll be reading that as well.

Archie to me, has always remained the quintessential All-American teenage. The character and indeed the comic book line carried by the Riverdale gang has waxed and waned over the years but it has always remained the expression of the idealized America and the idealized version of the teenage years. I think we can all agree that at some point in our lives we read an Archie comic in some form whether it be the regular sized comics or the digests and in doing so we took a peek into the kind of world that I think we secretly wished we had as teenagers where we have innocuous fun.

The love triangle aspect of Archie is something that hits home for both boys and girls. All guys want to have two beautiful girls fighting over him and having to choose which one he eventually wants while for girls Betty and Veronica were the idealized picture of growing up and competitively fighting their best friend over a guy. In a sense B & V were frenemies before the term even came into being! The rest of the Riverdale gang hit at other aspects of growing up, Reggie being the cocksure aggravating jock while Jughead was that guy we all knew who wasn't all that interested in girls and had other obsessions.

Those 5 characters formed the nucleus for one of the most enduring, wholesome and fun interpersonal relationships in all of media. Think about it, Archie came along before Leave it To Beaver and all the sugary sweet saccharine family entertainment you think about in the 1950s. Archie endured the turbulence of the '60s by getting with the times a bit but maintaining the status quo that made it a safe haven from the stresses of the real world. The comic line moved with the times, sometimes very successfully and other times not so much but through it all the character of Archie was at the center of it all as the All-American teenage boy. So no matter how much we may scoff at Archie Comics at times we begrudgingly give it respect because it outlasted the funny animal phase and the glut of copycats in the '50s and '60s. Archie has survived it all and remains today as one of the most enduring characters in all of popular culture.

So in closing I tip my cap to all those who've created this enduring legacy. In killing Archie in the LIFE WITH ARCHIE line the comic stayed true to itself while having a message (which I won't go into but let's say it leans decidedly left wing) so that Archie doesn't merely die as a publicity stunt but rather the story told in that line had a progression that led to this event.

So long Arch, Riverdale will never be the same again.

(BTW Archie will still be around in his "regular" form in comics and digests)

The result of Original Sin will leave us with the new Thor and the old unworthy Thor will be around with his celestial killing axe.
