Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
SpoilerWell, technically they weren't "light-up eyes" as they were little lenses that came down from the helmet and covered his eyes and lit up...but I agree, that may have been a tad bit overboard, especially since the phone didn't light up or anything to show the sonar images, though I do understand why it was done.Comment

I really liked the scene when Bruce tells Fox about the monitors and such... you can really go pro-Bush or anti-Bush when hearing what they have to say about it. Break the law to save human lives, yes or no? I just saw DK about 5 hours ago, and Man was it great, everything about it was just fantastic, I loved every minute of it. A++ movie all around. I'm just saddened that Ledger is gone, because he found his ultimate MOJO in this Movie. BravoN.Y Mets

Pretty good scene, but I just really thought it looked goofy for this movie.SpoilerYeah, the dialogue in this scene...and in pretty much every scene of the movie...was top notch. But yeah, the appearance of the sonar system was pretty...over-the-top, so to speak. The concept was cool and worked, especially the conversation between Batman and Fox.
And a question for those who have seen it:
SpoilerWould you have pressed the button, or not?Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
I saw it last night and I wanted to give it a standing ovation halfway through. I'm glad it was long too, it was so dope from beginning to end. This new batman has the potential to be James Bond-like.
Spoiler@ Longhorn, (edit, confusion) I think I would have not pushed the button. I couldn't have that sitting on my soul that I blew _hundred people to smithereens. I don't care if they're innocent or a bunch of criminals, I'm not gonna play God. Thats me saying my own life > a ship full of others lives.

SpoilerI thought the Sonar thing was cool as well. The FBI has actually used phones as remote microphones recently to get at mobsters. It's not the sonar viewing of the room, but it's kind of neat.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
SpoilerNo, and I say that honestly. I would rather die than push that button. Besides, like I said, during the movie I thought the whole time that there was going to be a twist and someone that pushed the button would blow up their own ship or something. You just never know any after-effects of pushing that button. I couldn't live with the guilt. Much like the question regarding "The Box". I don't care who is on the other boat, there is still some good in them (like Deebo).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
SpoilerYou're not allowed to like anything...you're supposed to be a *****.
And Blackdeath...
SpoilerI meant the detonator, not the sonar button. My mistake, I realize that was pretty vague on my part....so new question:
Would you have used the detonator?Comment

I was actually expecting the darkness of the movie to continue and each boat was going to push the button at the same time and each would blow up their own ship.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
SpoilerYeah, but you had the knowledge of who the Joker is and what he's done in the past (Dent/Rachael switch). Those on the boat had no idea. They probably assumed he was telling the truth about who's ship would blow up when you pressed the detonator. The viewer knew he was lying (or at least suspected).
Personally, I don't know if I would press it or not. If I was aware of the history of the individual who planted the bomb, like the viewer of the movie, I wouldn't press it. But if that were an honest situation, I have no idea.
I honestly doubt I'd press it. I can accept taking a life of an individual who is set on endangering another life, but I don't think I'd be able to take the life of an innocent (cops/soldiers on the prisoner boat) to preserve my own.Comment

Re: The Dark Knight Discussion
I haven't seen the movie yet (#%%@#) but I just wanted to comment on this part. I believe I read or heard somewhere that WB wanted to give the Batman franchise a fresh start with Nolan and Co. just for that reason alone. Really when you think about it Batman's the best comic book character to be stretched out in that way as the Batman character has seen many phases. Phases such as The Lonely Vigilante who kills, The very public superhero with his sidekick Robin, The sci-fi Batman years, campy Batman, the darker grittier Batman inhabiting a Gotham City much like 1970s NYC, The Dark Knight and finally the quiet psychological basket case of present day.
So there's a lot of ways future film makers can take the character.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
