lol, come on you guys aren't taking him seriously are you? he's the star of a rival comic book movie for the summer that was probably number 1 before getting passed by the dark knight. it was a joking jab like he was pouting. i thought the last line with the shot at dc comics overall sealed that. i'd love to see a video of that interview... i'd bet he was smiling at the end.

I'm actually going tomorrow night with my friend. Gonna double up and catch Righteous Kill along with it. I may even be tripling up with Burn After Reading, I'm not sure yet.

Johnny Depp will definitely play a villain in the next Batman film.

The actor was linked to the role of The Riddler earlier this year and now one of the superhero franchise’s stars Sir Michael Caine has confirmed both Johnny and Philip Seymour Hoffman will appear.
Michael - who played Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred Pennyworth in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight - told MTV: "I was with a Warner Bros executive and I said, 'Are we going to make another one?' They said, 'Yeah'.
"I said, ‘How the hell are we going to top Heath Ledger as The Joker? And he says, ‘I’ll tell you how you top Heath - Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin'.
"I said, 'S**t, they’ve done it again'."
Johnny recently described the prospect of playing The Riddler as "fun".
He said: "I heard about that. It seems like it'd be a fun gig for a while, yeah."
Work is expected to begin on the next movie, starring Christian Bale as Batman, some time next year.

I don't want to see the Penguin, though, as good of an actor as Phillip Seymour is.

Penguin was easily one of the dumbest villains in the batman series if not al comic books

Actually the modern interpretation of the Penguin as a de facto leader of the Gotham underworld works quite well and I can see PSH doing very well if the character is treated that way.

Johnny Depp would make an interesting Riddler and i'd love to see what he can do with the character.

Depp as the Riddler would be cool, but I'm just treating it as a rumor until 1) Nolan signs on for the third and 2) He confirms characters and the cast. Caine likes to stir things up.

Pretty much there's no more villains I'd be interested in outside of the Riddler and the Penguin, though I'm not too hyped for those either.

I can't imagine Ivy, Hatter, Bane, Clayface, or Freeze or anyone like that..

If the exec has any sway in picking the next actor to play a villain then it's guaranteed that Nolan will not be directing the next film. The next movie is increasingly in danger of becoming what the previous franchise became. A vehicle just to showcase today's most famous actors hamming it up to give the movie marquee value just to guarantee a big box office. With all due respect to Hoffman and Depp, who when given the right roles excel at thier craft, the next Batman movie just becomes a Depp or Hoffman movie which happens to have Batman in it. Seeing Nolan's casting choices in the past there is little chance that he wants either to be in the 3rd installment as thier fame will be a distraction to the movie.

One other actor that I think might make a great Riddler would be Ben Foster. Watch him in Alpha Dog, he's the older brother of the kid who is killed. He was also fantastic in 3:10 to Yuma. The guy has a great look for the Riddler and apparently he's very much like Ledger in preparing for his roles and seems perfectly natural playing a maniac.
