    Sounds just like him.

I was blown away by this movies and I was GI JOE kid who hated transformers. Its an instant classic to say the least.

Just to clarify You're right about the original voice of Megatron. I actually heard a demo tape he did for the movie and he sounded like he was wheezing and gasping for air. He really sounded too old for the part.

As for the original voice of Starscream....well it's kinda hard to do his voice when you're dead. (Chris Latta died of a cerebral hemmorhage in 1994)

My text sound on my phone is now the Transformers original transform sound, which was in the movie once I believe. Pretty funny when it goes off.

You know whats so great about tranformers? It is gonna make so much money that, my childhood dream of a live action GI JOE movie may come true now.

Because as we all know GI JOE > Transformers.

                    Re: Transformers the movie

One of my favorite action movies of all-time!

The CG was amazing and the action was top notch. The film was a lot funnier than I expected.

Nice to see another actor that appeared on Freeks and Geeks (Shia LaBeouf) do well. His current push reminds of me Josh Harnett in the early 2000's when he appeared in Pearl Harbor, Black Hawk Down, and 40 Days and 40 Nights. But his career dropped off once Hollywood Homicide bombed. Even though Harrison Ford isn't an A list star anymore, I doubt the next Indiana Jones will bomb. As long as Shia picks good roles, he could become the biggest actor under 30. I think he's very talented.

Now back to Transformers, the movie dragged a bit with the scenes involving John Keller and Maggie. They could have chopped off 5 minutes from the film.

I can't wait to see this film in 1080p. If you're looking for a brainless big action popcorn flick, Transformers delivers.

                      There's ONE big difference:

Shia actually has talent and doesn't just have the "Hollywood" look with mediocre acting skills.

Yeah I see big things for Shia even though this was a brainless action picture you could tell that he had a great time with the material and went with it rather then acting TOO serious and making the material look stupid.

I don't think the movie dragged at all but it was VERY close to dragging near the end of the scene where they're searching for the glasses at Sam's house. Even though Sector Seven was goofy and way over the top it was given credibility by John Turturro. (Is it just me or is he getting a whole ton of work lately? He's going to be Billy Martin in the upcoming 8 Part ESPN miniseries on the '77 Yankees THE BRONX IS BURNING) He brought some gravitas to a role that could've easily been easily mocked by any other actor.

spoilerish stuff ahead, read at own risk if you haven't seen yet

As I said in my post after I saw the movie I loved the subtle and sometimes not so subtle nod to the original cartoon in this movie. The best part for me was the sequence at Hoover Dam. They took a battle scene location from the 3 part premiere of the original cartoon (MORE THEN MEET THE EYE) and gave it some bones. I know the whole alien technology as the base for our technology idea is cliche to some but I found it cool that in this fictional world all our great tech came from experimenting and back engineering things in Megatron and studying the all spark.

Also late last night I was reading on the TF boards and there's some speculation based on Tyrese's dialogue that Starscream was the one who mortally injured Megatron. At one point in the battle he says that an F-22 doesn't go below the building line and clearly the F-22 that mortally hits Megs is below the building line. Then again, there were a couple other F-22s during the fight scene that did that so we'll need clarification on a commentary to be absolutely sure. If the speculation is true that would make screamer one hell of a deceptive and manipulative bastard!

The thing that makes me a huge Shia fan? His recent interview:

''My parents didn't have jobs, my dad was selling drugs, it was a bad life,'' LaBeouf recently told Entertainment Weekly. ''There were maybe two years when it was stable. Then it was just chaos.''

Perhaps it's because of the past addictions in his family that LaBeouf refuses to fall into the traps that many young Hollywood stars get mired in. To him, drugs, drinking and all-night partying are nothing but a distraction from his true love -- acting.

"It could all go away tomorrow if I'm at a club drinking like an a--hole,'' LaBeouf said. "Someone like Lindsay Lohan's personality is [more] famous than her performance. You've got to maintain some mystery. Part of me wants to go out and see my peers. But if I go to a club and get my picture in the press, then I am that young Hollywood a--hole. That would shatter my world.''

"Everyone turns 21," he said. ''Not everyone gets to be in 'Indiana Jones'.''
                          Very, very admirable.

Well I knew nothing about this kid until this movie (apparently he was in I, Robot) but wow, I'm impressed. Good for him. Transformers then Indiana Jones...nice time to be a young talented actor.
