Im sure there is a way they can make them look original, not like some "alien the movie" reject props.

Masss transforming? This is the transformers man! What are they making the movie for if they can't handle it?

What about the faces? Some of those faces are so off it looks like they tried to mix the transformers and go-bots together, or better yet, they could've just made the vehicle Voltron if they wanted to make an ugly alien robot.
i dunno they look like they are ready to transform into what they scanned on earth and thats before getting to earth...but i get what your sayin...

i agree 100% with the faces though...Megs looks like a mess and Optimus i feel looks to be the closest to G1

Man, those vehicles look nothing like the post scan vehicles, and the movie doesn't look like the authentic robots pre or post earth.

After seeing that cartoon clip that someone posted in reference to what you said. Why then, back then on their home planet when they were not transformed the decepticons still look like jets from our planet when not transformed?

Same thing goes for the Autobots, see? They already on their home planet, having never seen a car yet, reffered to as Autobots, implying Automobiles.

I think the originators, when explaining their origins to us simply did not think it all the way through, prior to making that episode.

I do get your concept on them adapting to their environment, it makes sense.

Its just that the people that made these episodes themselves did not think to deep about the concept.

The trailers are looking pretty good, and hopefully we won't notice the crappy character models while they're in motion.

Sure they had to make changes, and I think Jazz is well done: His face model is the same as we remember it, and I could tell that it is Jazz just by looking at it.

But then who the hell came up with these and what were they thinking?

Tweak the bodies any way you have to accomodate mass shifting(yeah, right?), but make the character faces close to the original G1 transformers and everyone's happy. How hard would that have been?

Yea but I was replying to this post
the thing is guys these are robots from space...theres no way your going to have a robot looking like it came straight from Japan...i was a bit disappointed when the first pics got leaked out but the more i think about it how would you portray a sentient being coming from space let alone a robot one...they gotta have that alien look to them and i think they did a fantastic job portraying that

Now while I partly agree with him, the movie doesn't look like any of what the cartoon portrays. I can only partly say that though because I havent seen it. Either way, im looking for a great movie or this will be a total disappointment.

                Re: Transformers the movie

I can barely remember the cartoons and most people that will watch the movie will barely know anything about the Transformers beyond some simple things. The trailers have looked really cool and they are simply trying to appeal to the general masses to make a lot of money. I'm not sure how much they really care about the history of the Transformers but rather just making a great movie (and a lot of money). I'm actually pretty pumped about this movie and I plan on seeing it when it comes out unless the reviews are truly horrible. This movie has the feeling of an original "War of the Worlds" and I think and hope it will be great.

Edit: This one guy who saw an advanced screening said the movie is great. I didn't even read half of it since I'm trying to avoid spoilers.

Another review saying it kills Spidey 3 (won't take much imo) and FF 2:

They probably wanted him to be the most powerful Decepticon and obviously so, but they already had a tank character, jet fighter, attack chopper, etc. Personally, I would have made him a stealth bomber or something. That thing they settled on is pretty stupid looking.

I just wanted to point out, in response to the point about the Transformer sin the movie appearing already like cars and such...

One of the trailers shows one of the autobots on a cliff, the outline of it at least, watching the road. A truck drives by and then, suddenly, you hear the transforming sound and BAM the transformer looks exactly like the truck.

Shows that the scanning aspect of it is in the movie, at least partially.

I anticipate that this will be an awesome summer action movie. I think those looking for a super deep Transformers plot will be disappointed, but it will be very enjoyable to just watch as long as you don't expect "Transformers: The Deep Oscar Caliber Movie"

Well Transformers isn't exactly a deep concept except for the Matrix and all that which I don't even expect to be touched on in the first movie. So I'm fully prepared for the ride.

I'm not going to read those advanced reviews as I want to go into this movie like a wrestling "mark" and totally go nuts over it. If this movie is as good as I think it'll be i'll definitely go see it more then once AND buy the DVD when it comes out.

O M G! This was definitely More Than Meets the Eye.

Just got back from watching it (in the Philippines, 1 week advanced showing) and I must say, The Transformers were done justice. Seeing it on the big-screen, you wouldn't even think for a second that these robots were fake. ILM did a great job with transforming the Transformers from vehicle to robot form and it was done (ahem) realistically. Coming into the movie, I wasn't really expecting anything story-wise 'cause hey, those robots are the main attraction. Quite surprisingly, the story was quite good and set-up any future movies quite nicely. The human characters (or rather, the extras) offered a decent diversion from the Transformers and provided a good amount of comic relief without it being cheesy and out of place. I haven't seen many of Shia's movies but he did quite well as the 'main' human character and provides that link between robot and human.

Back to the Transformers, they were all very-well made although it was sometimes hard to discern them from one another (especially for the Decepticons) when they were fighting because they almost all looked-alike. They also portrayed the humanity of the Autobots well and from what I can remember, maintained their personalities from the cartoon. The voice actors were good in their roles with a special mention to Peter Cullen who gives us a familiar Optimus Prime. Michael Bay did a great job making such a realistic-looking movie that you'd just have to wonder if these robots actually exist somewhere.

If you never liked robots before, you'll love them when you see Transformers. It definitely deserves a 2nd-screening because its that damn good.

Now its only a matter of time before Japan actually starts rolling one of these Autobots out.

*Megatron transforms into a futuristic jet spaceship, for the one who asked. And no, it looks nothing like that toy. At least from what I could see during the movie anyway.
*The scanning aspect is in the movie in a number of scenes.
