Not to go off-topic, but Ocean's 13 was a quality movie that might be more up your ally.

I saw it and I liked it more than Ocean's 12 but I didnt love it. My last hopes for the summer are Bourne 3 and Harry Potter.

This movie was my childhood brought to life. When you are a little kid and you are playing with your toys, this movie is what you come up dream of. Absolutely perfect. I got chills the first time they showed Optimus, chills when Megatron railed on Starscream, and chills when Optimus cut a dude's face off.

The only thing I would have changed about the film was Anthony Anderson's screen time (although I appreciated the Portis jersey).

I know alot of people were disappointed in Megatron not being a gun. But honestly, that would not have worked. What would have been more ridiculous than the most evil of all Transformers turning into a handheld pistol? I did enjoy the homage to the original Megatron, however, when he transformed his hands into a cannon.

The movie also gave new meaning to the term "three rings of death" when the 360 was transformed.

To the one's that didn't enjoy the film: You may have, at some point, murdered your inner child.

And as for the guy whose criticism was of the misuse of our military: I can handle it if you just didn't like the movie. But to rail on it because it didn't use proper military protocol and info is absolutely ridiculous. You may be the unhappiest movie-goer ever.

At first I was a little disappointed that the transformers looked nothing like i remember from my youth. I had to go back and watch the first two episodes of the cartoon to understand. They were able to scan their surroundings to blend in so I quit complaining about it. However if anyone knows where I can find the actual cartoon on dvd holla at me.

Bumblebee is a Mustang?

Camaro. VW and Porsche wouldn't let them use their cars in the film because they didn't want them associated with war vehicles.

And yes, that's actually true.

LOL wow.

I still think the movie could've stuck with the cartoon storyline a little bit but it wasnt a dud of a movie to say the least.

Megatron should've been the gun. It's not like they didn't have tons of shooting in the movie come on.

He should've been in-fighting with starscream, and then no Thundercracker?

Those two were the twin jets right there.

Oh and yes I always hate it when camera men are aked to shake the camera in a fight scene to make it look more intense and all it does is give the person watching it a headache.

I don't think it would've worked with Megatron as a gun. It would have looked ridiculous if he had mass shifted into a human hand gun, and it would have looked ridiculous if he had turned into a giant hand gun (especially when everyone else had guns coming out of their arms, including the cell phone).

Off-topic a little, but I find it amusing that VW doesn't want their cars associated with a war movie, especially if you know the history of their beginnings.

Wow...maybe I starting to get out of touch with mainstream america.

I hated this movie....hated it. The worst thing about it was that I had low expectations coming into it. I told people that as long as it was robots fighting for 90 minutes I would be happy. I didnt care about the script or plot holes just robots fighting. So what did they do? They waste about an hour with the humans when no one gives a crap about the humans other than Shia Lebouf's character (who is going to be a star) Here is a short list of what I hated:

- The CGI was good but they did little to distinguish each transformer with the exception of optimus and bumblebee. Megatron and Starscream looked too much alike.

- Some of the fight scenes were disorienting and the design of the transformer made it hard to see who was hurting who in some scenes

- They deviated too much from the Transformer origin: Megatron wasnt a gun? Bumblebee is a Mustang?

- Did we really need the hot scientist or the soldiers or the secretary of defense?

I have more but I dont have time to type them all. Its a C-, D movie imo.

Wow... but for the sake of just being an enjoyable flick... you didn't like it? How were you watching the movie, as a Transformers purist or what?

Loved Transformers... but I can easily overlook the negatives b/c so much was enjoyable IMO...

And how come no one has yet to mention Megatron turning into one huge gun in the middle of the city? Did any of you miss it? It wouldn't be as believable to see a handheld gun transform into a HUGE robot... don't you think?

I don't see how you come to that conclusion? Megatron's gun scope was a gun on his arm in robot form, and when he transformed he turned into a (giant) gun usually with starscream using it to shoot at autobots.

I'm far from a Transformers purist. I watched more of Voltron and GI Joe as a kid. Here is my biggest problem with the movie...when you are making an action flick you have two choices: Spend time developing the characters in order to make the action scenes more effective and mean more or make the movie 60 to 70% action scenes and focus very little on the characters. There are plenty of movies that have done one of the two options and they were great films.

Now Transformers was 144 minutes and maybe 45 minutes was used for the fight scenes (which were great in some parts even though they didnt do enough to distinguish each transformer). So that leaves 100 minutes (almost 2 hrs) for plot and character development and thats something that Michael Bay sucks at. I basically spent 2 hrs watching a film about people I dont care about and that the movie didnt make me care about. I dont care about the hot scientist, the hacker, the hot girl w/ the juvie record, the soldiers or the sec of defense. The only person I gave a crap about was Shia and thats because the movie actually tried to develop his role. The movie should have been about Shia and the robots but it spent way too much time trying to develop to many side characters.

As for Megatron, you dont have to make him in to a small gun...he can transgorm into a huge cannon for all i care just dont make him into a jet just like starscream. It was confusing and there was no reason to do that.

I really enjoyed this movie and it brought many childhood memories back for me. I do agree with the whole Megatron deal, they really could have stuck with origin.

I wish I was able to find the DVD sets of the cartoon since their out of print and rumor has it that they might be re-released later in the year. I think that my son would enjoy them also introducing him to my childhood cartoons.

Ahh, I see your point now. Makes sense. I think most of the time you calculated though was spent with Shia as being an integral part. Here's an example: The scene at Shia's house looking for the eyeglasses had to be at least 20 mins long. That was a fantastic scene of giving the Autobots a humanistic side and feel. Seeing them joke around, act clumsy... that was a perfect scene that fell in line with the cartoon early on in its running. The hackers part was a bit dry though. I remember thinking, "ok we get it, show me the damn robots!"

Megatron did turn into a huge cannon though... does anyone remember what I'm talking about?? It was at the end in the city after he thawed. It was a bit confusing with the planes and the only way I was able to differentiate them was in robot form, via their face.

What did ya think of the other Transformers? I think they did a fantastic job including a good amount of the crew. I wasn't expecting to see Jazz, Rachet, Demolishor....

If you go in expecting a fun action flick, I think you'll enjoy it. As a fan of Transformers, it will bring you back to your childhood (not sure how old ya are).

To reiterate...Megatron DID turn into a giant cannon during the final attack. Go watch the movie again and you'll see.
