We'll see how they do it.

If you told most avid fans that the entire show would consist of 50% present moments and 50% flashbacks many would say they weren't interested in watching the show.

I believe that Cuse and Lindeloff have the talent to make flash-forwards work. And much like the article I got that confirmation from stated, it could be the best move.

The back story of the Losties has pretty much been told already. Switching it up and telling us what happens afterwards is probably the only way to truly answer the remaining questions of the Island.

well we shall see. I trust Cuse and Lindeloff but I sure hope they know what they're doing with this flash forward thing.

        SPOILER

        5/27/2007:

        * When in season 1 to season 3 the main activity happened on the island and featured flashbacks in cities, then in season 4 to season 6, the main activity starts after they have been rescued and where season 3 ended. The story how they got off the island after 93rd day will be featured as a flashback (all the previous flashbacks which happened before crash were already explained).

        END SPOILER
Where did you get this from? I'm a little skeptical because it mentions a season 6 and its been confirmed that Season 5 is the last season.

I'm almost 100% sure that three more seasons have been confirmed.

Yeah, three more seasons have been confirmed but it's only going to be 48 episodes. Kinda cheap but whatever.

I think they flash-forwards have the potential to work well.

I don't understand why everyone keeps calling these "flash-forwards." Wouldn't the present just change and make the island story the flashbacks?

I'm a little skeptical because after spoilers for the season finale leaked, I highly doubt that the producers would let any info about season 4-6 get out this early.

I get what DeeForThree is saying. If the present is 2007 then they aren't flash-forwards. The new flashbacks would be the events on the Island prior to being saved.

I think, however, for discussion purposes any time after the Island is considered a flash-forward to differentiate between Island events and pre-Island events.

I tagged it spoiler because I just thought people would think wrongly of it.

It's been removed from Lostpedia so I'll take it as speculation that has been proven false.

Yeah that's probably good to avoid confusion. I just don't think all these "alternate timeline" and time traveling theories are where the show is going, because I'm still clinging to the hope that most of the stuff (and the overall plot) will be explained somewhat rationally.

According to the writers everything that's occuring on the island can be explained by science. I will be holding them to their word.

Do you have a quote for this? I've seen other people mention it as well but I don't think I've ever seen an actual quote that says they'll explain everything by science.

I don't mind the flash-forwards. It's very Momento-esque. It'll be cool to see how f'd up everything is in the present and how it all came to that.
That leads me to believe that season 6 will be nothing but them trying to get back to the island and fix what they made wrong.

It would be funny if the Losties and the Others become friends. I'm not sure how that will work considering all the killing both sides have done. I actually felt kind of bad for the Others that took Syaid, Jin and Bernard captive. They could have killed them per Ben's orders but chose not too. They were killed even after they showed some compassion and began to question what Ben was telling them. But it was a cool Hurly moment. Normally I have trouble watching his pumpkin sized head walk around, but that was pretty good.
