Re: Studio 60: On the Sunset Strip

Matthew Perry does very well in this show. I think he will fit nicely. I like his character's personality and humor. Maybe it's natural, but he does it well.

It's nice to see the Capital One moron with a minor role. I'll be interested to see if he is in further episodes.

Very solid show. I enjoyed it, and it felt much longer than an hour, in a good way.

I think playing "Pressure" at the end was a fantastic musical choice.

I also like the subtle humor in the show.. I like how at the end, the other guy used the door of the cab to get out, despite it only being half a cab.

I am not up on actors and names, but I recognized a few people.. The guy from Wings, the afformentioned Capital One guy, and the guy that bombed at the beginning looks familiar, but I'm not sure from where. I want to say Taxi, but couldn't say where that comes from.

My final thought on the first episode is that I think Matthew Perry will fit very well. He just seems to click, and the whole character seems very natural to him. I enjoyed the first episode, and the show certainly has the potential to have staying power.

Re: Studio 60: On the Sunset Strip

Maybe it's my preconcieved dislike for Perry, but I don't think he fits on the show at all. I would love to see actors who were up for his role, because I'm sure one of them would have been better. He's just annoying, and I can't put my finger on why, but it just doesn't fit.

Steven Weber plays a GREAT hard-*** role, and Amanda Peet plays the same type of role from the female side.

The problem I have with shows like this (and the same problem I have with Entourage), is that I have this feeling from the beginning of the show that I know where it's going to go. In Entourage (granted, I havent seen season 3), there always seemed to be a happy ending. I just knew that Matt was going to get Danny on board with the job.

I'll tune in next week to see where it goes....because, after all, this was only the pilot, and a solid one at that. I think I'm just spoiled with 24's shock value.

I just couldn't get into this show, I wanted to give it a chance.

No replies after the newest episode.. Kind of surprised.

I wasn't really feeling this episode. Predictably, past relationships have arisen to the forefront, and it seems to me that relationships were broken and resolved entirely in one episode.

This show has the potential to get old fast.. And that was emphasized pretty strongly by the countdown timer shown during the last shot before credits. If every show is going to start on Saturday, and countdown to Friday night, it will not only get pretty predictable, it will become tiring as well.

I'm starting to question my desire to watch a television show about a pseudo television show, but I am curious to see where it goes from here.

i'm on the opposite end of the spectrum....maybe my favorite show ever, SportsNight, was a television show about a pseudo sportscenter, and that was great....

I can't really see a Sorkin show getting predictable. I enjoyed this episode, had me riveted all the way through. I know I like how he does dialog and interactions between characters though, and it's also not everyone's cup of tea.

I'll continue watching to see where it goes. I enjoyed the first episode, and tonight's was alright, but not as good in my opinion. I'm kind of hoping the show doesn't have all the characters having sex with one another as a means for adding drama. It seems there would be plenty of opportunities for drama without having characters dating within their jobs as if they lived in some sort of sexually exclusive BioDome. I think the comment Matthew Perry's old girlfriend made about dating co-workers instead of hitting a strip club was interesting, and ideally the show strays away from such practices.

I'm kinda feeling the same way. I loved the first episode and simply thought this one was "ok". Though, I still have high expectations for the series.

I'm not sure about this show yet. my wife really likes it so I'll watch it all season, but so far it hasn't hooked me. Both weeks the show had my attention at the beginning but then loses me half way through. Last week I watched the second half of the show in a daze, this week it started again but it pulled me back in.

watching this show makes me feel like the good ol' days when I watched West Wing. Gotta love Sorkin.

I'm still enjoying it. Sports Night (also from Sorkin with a similar premise kind of) is probably my favorite show of all time. I think the characters work well together, I've read in other places that a lot of people don't like Amanda Peet on the show. Personally I think she is good, very funny, cute, confident, good work so far. Either way, I'm a lil worried about longevity, and the fact that there is SOOO much on during monday night's already. This has been relegated to dvr status due to MNF. And the other nbc show heroes i will just have to d'l somewhere thanks to mnf and how i met your mother. Anyway, great show so far, hopefully Sorkin keeps up the good work

My freakin' (DVR) recording of the second episode went corrupt. Does anyone know if this episode will replay again... maybe on another channel. I've tried searching for it on my DVR guide, but couldn't find it.

... samething with my ER recording. Damn!
