Re: Iron Man is.....
Phenomenal film, and I couldn't help but think Downey had a striking resemblance to a cleaned up Mike Patton all through this movie...

Re: Iron Man is.....
I saw this movie yesterday, man it was really good. I wasn't hyped up for it that much just because I'm not a huge Iron Man fan, but wow the movie was great. Definitely one of the best that Marvel has put out. I liked this one just as much as the first couple Spidey's and X-Men.

Re: Iron Man is.....
I just went and saw this again for the 2nd time last night, and T.Howard didn't seem as Pussified this time. The place was still packed and I enjoyed it more this time as I had time to soak a lot of the little things I missed the first time, up. I stayed throughout the whole credits also....as well as most of the drive-in ( really fun way to see this move)Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

Re: Iron Man is.....
Yeah, I looked up Iron Man's history on wiki. I know they change things for the movies. But it still was silly to me. It just didn't fit. They may have attempted to make the climax more of a personal grudge match, but what they already had on the table was sufficient enough to me. Adding that extra twist made it too much like a soap opera. Just unnecessary.JD: I was a regular Iron Man reader; this might help with your question...

I was a little thrown off as well, because Stark and Stane never really worked that closely together like that. Each had their own corporation that they were running, and Stane was trying to take over Stark Enterprises.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Iron Man is.....
SpoilerThough an avid comic reader in my teens, I'm unfamiliar w/the Iron Man background story. What's the Obadiah story in the comics? I thought his being behind the Tony kidnapping was kind of stupid. Stark is the guy supplying all of the ingenious gadgets. Why would he want him dead? Making him the bad guy would have made sense after Stark found out he was arming both sides. Or that Stark wanted to get rid of the weapons division. But orchestrating the Afghan assault wasn't believable.SpoilerGood point that I never even considered. The only thing I could say is that Stane wasn't interested in new technology. He mentions how he almost made a mistake of getting rid of Stark before he perfected the arc-reactor. Seems like Stane was only interested in a quick buck and getting rid of the man that was going to prevent him from doing so. He's an old guy, he probably just wanted to retire. Just guessing obviously.
But, the Afghans were the smarter ones. They didn't want to kill Stark and it's because he was 1) the creator of their weapons and 2) the only man that could continue to improve on those weapons.
All villains are dumb in some way, right? Stane is no different."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

These terrorists are expecting missles, have Stark under surveillance, & can't tell he's making a suit of armour? Language gap, tech gap nowithstanding, that's like ordering a cheeseburger & not being able to tell the chef is making a Ceasar's salad.
But Obadiah wanting Stark dead from the start was really dumb. Stark is in the dark, he's not worried about any details except directions to the next party. A guy that is greedy for the next dollar isn't going to destroy the means to continue making those dollars.-August 17, 1960Originally posted by VP Richard M. Re: Iron Man is.....
I might go see it again myself... I went to see it yesterday while my wife took the boys to see Speed Racer. The movies started 15 minutes apart, so while I was watching the last scenes of Iron Man, my wife and kids come in. So I was a little distracted; I'd have preferred she waited outside with them. Then I dipped during the credits, forgetting to stick around to see what everyone was talking about.I just went and saw this again for the 2nd time last night, and T.Howard didn't seem as Pussified this time. Funny thing, the theatre by my house was virtually empty; probably because of the 1:00 start. Still, I thought I'd have to see a bunch of people.Last edited by TarHeelMan; 05-11-2008, 09:30 PM.Comment

Re: Iron Man is.....
Good action and special effects but the movie felt long. They could have trimmed 5-10 minutes to make it tighter.
I was surprised to see Shaft in the film

Re: Iron Man is.....
I just watched it today (I was out of town this weekend and was incredibly busy the week prior)...This was a great comic book movie, I like how they've set up the characters and think this could be a great franchise. I'm really glad I saw this, best comic movie in a while.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Iron Man is.....
Just got back from finally getting to see this. Very very good comic movie. Little light on action but the pacing and character development was spot on.
Looking forward to this one making it's way to high definition.Comment
