    Re: Saw III

Okay, I'll try to be as fair as I can without ANY spoilers.

First of all... sorry for not posting last night. Couldn't get in the room and start typing with my roommate sleeping.

Anyway, I definitely need to give this movie another look, just to really see what I think about it. Not because I didn't like it... but because I need to repiece it together. Let me first say that this movie would have been much better if it were its rumored 2 hours 10 minutes, instead of 1 hour 47 minutes. That's just my opinion... it could have been possible, and it honestly should have been done.

What do I think of the movie, though? Dark, scary, and very non-Hollywood. This movie is nothing like Saw or Saw II, but it certainly follows its footsteps very well without going way off or without repetition. Shawnee Smith was great acting her part, but I don't really know how much I like her character. Tobin Bell was fantastic! Anyway, like I said, this movie had a very dark tone to it, and I really enjoyed how they didn't go in the direction of cheap tricks and bloodsplattering stuff just to make money and entertain the younger crowd. If you guys are truly a fan of Saw and wanted this movie to not go in that Hollywood Saw II direction that it did, then you should love this movie.

I understand that most people loved the first movie most for its ending. In other words, Saw wouldn't be what it was without its ending. So, let me just close out by saying that if they were to make an ending for this one as jaw-dropping as the first one, it would probably be the best of the three Saw movies. Not saying that they didn't do that, though. Let's just say that I think they ended it in such a way that making a fourth Saw would be a stretch.

Saw III does in fact work as a standalone film, but I would not advise to anybody to see this one only (or first). See them sequentially... it's worth it.

If you want the Hollywood approach, you probably don't want to see this. If you are truly a Saw diehard and appreciate the character development and sympathize for players of the game at one point or another (and don't just appreciate these movies for their endings alone), this is DEFINITELY worth the money you spend seeing it.

As for me? Of my top five movies of all time. If anybody that ever sees it wants me to PM them on what I think separates it from being perfect (of course, spoilers included), just let me know. I have a lot to say, though. I was really intrigued by this trilogy, and I love it to death. Let's just pray to God that a Saw IV (or S4W) isn't made.

I'm going to see it in a little over an hour, I can't wait! I loved the first two so I've been looking forward to Saw III ever since Saw II ended.

Almost everything I've heard about Saw III sounds very good so as I said I can't wait!

              Re: Saw III

I just saw it this afternoon. Pretty good, extremely disturbing compared to the first two, so if you like gore, I have 100% certainty that you will not be disappointed. Ending was disappointing to me. I'd say it was probably the best of the three, and was definitely darker and closer to the first installment.

Again, the ending was the biggest problem for me as it didn't really seem to make sense with the rest of the movie, but I don't want to spoil it.

Regarding recent horror, I've seen High Tension, Hills Have Eyes, Hostel, TCM remake, etc... I had a tough time sitting through this movie, and I think that's saying something.

It was ok. Let me know when we can actually talk about the movie so I can have some questions answered and just give my thoughts.

                  Re: Saw III

Saw it this afternoon. I have a lot of mixed feelings about it. The ending was a shock but like some others have said... it didnt really fit in with the rest of the movie. If you just take the 5 min leading up to the twist..it fits but not with the rest of the movie.

Another thing that I think couldve been improved on was the character development. The big knock against Saw 2 was you didnt really care about any of the characters. Here, they built up both of the main characters' back stories... but still I didnt really care about either of them. I think the wrong actors were used for the roles.

The one thing I did love was how they tied up any loose ends with the first two movies. That made me happy and I did not expect that.

Overall it was pretty entertaining..grueome...horifying...thrilling...yo u name it. If you're a fan of the first two you'll definitly enjoy this one.

                  8/10

Btw...anyone who wants to discuss it PM me.... I'd like to hear anyone's thoughts that couldnt be written here without spoiling it.

                        Just got back from it.

My thoughts...minus any spoilers for those who haven't seen it.

VERY VERY Dark...this isn't the "feel good" movie of the year.

I liked it...but still think the first Saw is the best.

Tobin Bell kicks ***. Shawnee Smith just annoys the hell out of me.

The traps are just flat out sadistic....2 in particular really turned my stomach.

Great job on developing the key characters, but there are some definite areas that could have been better "intertwined" to make sense to the casual viewer.

MUCH better than Saw 2, not quite as good as Saw IMO. Please don't let them make a Saw 4.

VERY gory, VERY dark... holy ****.

The whole thing just amazed me, and honestly bothered the living **** out of me.

Blzer, I also thought the little clip for Hostel part II looked interesting.

                              I liked this movie.

Enough said, it was fairly gory but didnt seem way over the top (at least compared to my expectations).

I dont think Hostel was gory (just too fake, and not enough movie for me) but I love the teaser for hostel 2 (americans have no imagination, lol).
