Sanjaya sure is 50% of the American Idol talk these days.........

Personally, I think he knows he can't really sing........ he could have provided another pisspoor, reluctant performance, or he could have showed that he really doesn't give a rat's .......... he chose the latter. I'll give him props for that at least.........

Don't get me wrong, I want Sanjaya to go home too, he should have been gone when 16 turned into 12.......... but if you are going to eliminate him, this week is the wrong week to do it.

Sanjaya is not going home this week. I just pray that FOX doesn't set it up so that the last two on the stage are Sanjaya and _________ because America would know that ___________ is gone the nanosecond they tell the other bottom 3 person they are safe.

I cast a few "curious" votes for Stephanie, and I could get through to her at will......... I think she's in trouble tonight.

The girl crying really was one of the oddest and more uncomfortable scenes I can recall. If it was to reflect all the women crying during "Beatlemania" then Fox did a horrible job presenting it. I spent part of the time wondering if she was excited, scared or just mentally unstable.

That goofy kid threw down last night. Sanjaya's back on the map!

Hes the only reason I even tune in to be honest. The kids gotta stay on tonight. I should add while I obviously dont think hes the best singer, I dont like him for "vote for the worst" purposes. Ive liked him since the audition and while im blinded by some biasness of wanting him to do good, I dont think hes as horrendous as a lot of people make him out to be. He finally had a "performance" last night rather than trying to do it with his mellow vocal style. He had that rendered pissed off goofy voice last night, but the kid's got me hooked. Im 100% straight for all you people getting those funny ideas.

I'm starting to wonder as this Sanjaya mancrush seems pretty strong. :wink:

His performance was better last night (how could it not be?), but his vocals were horrible. I'm still wondering what happened to the guy who sang very well at the auditions.

I agree, if this was truly a singing competition as advertised and was just based on vocals, sanjaya would be a goner. As far as staying on goes, he is just more likable and more entertaining than a good number of other contestants that are left in my opinion. Good or bad he's got almost the entire buzz surrounding him.

I also like Phil. Another one nobody is too crazy about.

It should be based on America voting because that is what the show is about, finding a star America likes, not necessarily the best singer. But don't worry about Sanjay, he won't win just like Constantine didn't win.

Is this not a SINGING competition? That's what Simon keeps reminding folks about just about every week.
If this isn't the case,then they shouldn't stress the singing.
I guess I look at it differently then some folks.
Being a musician,I look at the vocal aspects first (which I thought this show was about).

Im not arguing im just saying it is what it is. A lot of it is singing, but entertainment and likeability counts a lot too since america is voting.

I guess I shouldn't look at it like a serious singing competition,and try to have a more "ahem" open mind.

Theres a percentage, and obviously I dont know any backstory politics, but I honestly believe that maybe 1-2/8ths of his votes are for that reason. He seems to have a pretty large, and loyal fanbase from what i generate on message boards.

We totally can’t switch to you this week after all the work we’ve put in for Sanjaya, but if you keep it up, you’re guaranteed some VFTW votes once Sanjaya is gone.
