Frys has a few $13.99 and $16.99 blu rays on sale.......pretty similar to Amazon's deal when you think about it.

I wouldn't be surprised for Saw IV to show up in a BOGO. Lionsgate titles were in a lot of the earlier (as in pre-November) BOGO deals.

SAW is one of my favorite franchises so this title is a day/date pickup for me. But yes, very good point that there were Lionsgate titles in the bogo.

I'm tempted to get WAR, I really like Jason Stratham but reviews of the movie have been just ok.

I purchased a TomTom GPS via BB's online in-store pick up option over the weekend and they included a free copy of 300 on Blue Ray. I'm going to sell that baby on Ebay, I have no use for it.

Well, my HD-DVD player is now going to be strictly an upscaler until Blu-ray standalone prices come significantly down and this profile nonsense becomes irrelevant. Honestly, I don't think I'll buy a Blu-Ray player for another 3 or 4 years.

The only reason I bought my HD-DVD player was because of the $160 dollar deal on Amazon where I got the A3 and 10 free movies. I was going to buy an upscaler and that deal presented itself.

I had no intention on buying any high-definition movies before this format war ended (good decision in retrospect). I'm not buying a PS3 so I'm going to be on the sidelines with high-def media for a while. HDM is still a miniscule part of the market and I'm going to wait for it to go mainstream. I think it will probably take another few years for HDM to get within striking distance of DVD.

I've been burned too many times as an early adopter (Sega Saturn and Dreamcast still hurt!).

I wonder what will happen at CES though? The HD-DVD group still has a significant 2 hours of a presentation to fill.

Not good for HD-DVD. Blu-ray is starting to gain momentum now. I think HD-DVD has Paramount and Universal as exclusives and that is it now. If one of those jump ship then the war will be over.

I think its over by the end of the year. Take a look at the list of summer 2008 films that will be Blu-ray exclusive:

                  Speed Racer (Warner)
                  The Dark Knight (Warner)
                  Wall-E (Disney)
                  The Chronicles of Narnia (Disney)
                  Tonight, He Comes (Sony)

Those are the 5 biggest movies in the summer.

I bet by Summer we get Universal on BD, unless they have an exclusive contract that wont let them out until 09.

Kind of surprised WB went exclusive. It will be very interesting to hear what the HD DVD Group has to say in their CES Press Conference
