    Re: Official Blu-Ray & HD-DVD Thread

Just picked up Inside Man and Out of Sight at deepdiscount. Very very nice sale.

Would have pulled the trigger on 5 others but decided I'd hold off and try to trade for them instead. Proud of myself because at those prices...it could have gotten out of hand very easily.

Talk about the explosion I mentioned of firesales, HDD.com has a lot of people selling and now the discs on ebay are up from the original 2300 I mentioned on Monday to 4200 today.

        This is awesome

My credit card is going to feel the hurt, but I'm going to have a fantastic hi-def collection for bargain prices when all is said and done. Thanks for the link Squint! I just picked up Seabiscuit, Shaun of the Dead (love that movie, I have it in SD already but I'll make an exception), and Inside Man. I'm actually trying to buy movies that I have not seen for the most part too. I'm really excited about Inside Man, I've heard great things about it.

Not a great deal by any means, but I picked up Children of Men and Blades of Glory for 34 bucks on Ebay- I was going to get them on Amazon but I said, hey let's save 6 bucks. I loved Children of Men and I needed a comedy too

I have 7 movies now (and the 5 free deal which I will probably get in July or so). I need to score Planet Earth for cheap first. If I'm good financially, I'm going to try to pick up 3-5 movies a month depending on the deal. As of now, I have 15 movies.

If you find a deal on Planet Earth, let me know Spectre.

Spectre, like I replied to you on my boards.........the amount of HD DVD discs on ebay as of this morning is at 4800. It has nearly doubled from Monday. There are guys selling discs on there for $8.99 (some brand new/sealed or used) with only like $4.00 shipping. I just bought about 4 discs for $30, 2 of them off of one guy that charged me shipping as if it were 1 disc being mailed out. I say this weekend, that there will be another huge jump in the amount of discs.

People don't realize that are dumping all these movies, these are the same freakin' quality as the Blu-ray counterpart. Why get rid of something that works so well. I can understand since I like to have everything on one format, but hell, if it is something that will never have a sequel........I don't mind owning on HD DVD for half the cost of the Blu-ray disc. People keep on selling on ebay and I'll buy what I can as cheap as possible. LOL!

That's pretty funny. Children of Men and Blades of Glory are two of movies I've gotten recently. Great minds think alike.

In the immortal words of DJ KOOL "Hold-Up wait-a-minute"

Warner Bros., a major movie studio in Hollywood, said that it would still release its movies on HD DVD format even after May 31st, 2008, when the company is supposed to start releasing movies on Blu-ray disc (BD) and DVD only and cease making HD DVD. But Warner Bros. will only launch HD DVD if there is demand.

“There may be isolated instances that an HD DVD title will be created, but as a general rule our titles will be out in SD and BD only after May 31,” said Ronnee Sass, vice president of publicity and promotion, in an interview with DVDTown web-site.
This almost tells me that Warner may feel like they either made a mistake or still catering to Toshiba knowing that Toshiba is not giving up. Very strange.

As long as HD DVD continues to offer adoptable Hardware prices which BTW are also region free players, HD DVD will continue to be a part of the HDM because people will be able to get movies from all over without restrictions. Not to mention the HD DVD PRGroups ability to continue to keep Universal & Paramount/Dream Works SKG Exclusive

Sinking? I think it's already near the bottom, and just a few survivors are still trying to escape.

Or is it really at the bottom at all? Maybe the survivors are on an island somewhere...
