If not for a rash of car repairs taking my free money, I would have jumped on the $299 40GB PS3 (when you get approved for the Sony credit card). Think the promotion is over.

BTW, Sony doesn't own blu-ray, but are in a group of companies that comprised it correct?

Anyhow, who has the cheapest blu ray deals most often?

Didn't know it was still ongoing. Yeah, Sony doesn't own blu ray, but they developed the technology and are the flagship company for it. Panasonic, Samsung and some others are in the BDA.

You talking about cheapest deals on hardware or software? Hardware-- IMO, I would touch any blu ray player that's not at least profile 1.1 and the PS2 is the only profile 2.0 player currently available if I'm not mistaken. From what I've read I get the impression that the PS3 is the only "future proofed" blu ray player available right now. If I'm gonna be paying $25-40 for a blu ray disks I wanna be able to access everything on it, not just watch the movie.

If I just wanted to watch the movie, I'd come out cheaper just watching it in the movie theater.

Considering Amazon has blu-ray movies regularly in the $15-22 range, I would say they are still my defacto number one on buying discs.

They've quietly upped the price on some titles, though..

And Mass Effect...

And Halo....

And about 10000 other titles that are either exclusive to 360 or better than the stuff on PS3.

XBox aint going anywhere.

I actually like the PS3 controller. It's lighter, but very nice. 360 is nice as well.

Yep, the PS3 controller is pretty light. I'm looking forward to the DS3 to fix that problem. Uncharted is awesome as well!

I went on ebay to see what the Toshiba A3 is selling for. Wow. If I even thought about selling it, I'd take such a huge hit on ebay ($60-$70 is the highest I've seen).

I guess I'll just keep it and my HD-DVD's and everything I buy from now on will be Blu-Ray. I just hate knowing that the A3 will be sitting in my entertainment center basically collecting dust.

That might be a stretch. Not a stretch to say Uncharted is maybe a better experience, but to not consider Mass Effect is crazy. I've never played a game as much in my life as Mass Effect (two seperate campaigns, over 65 hours between them). A lot of people would agree with that as well.

However, you are correct that Uncharted is one exclusive that a LOT of people with only a 360 will regret they can't play.

On Friday, Wal-Mart announced that they will phase out HD-DVD players and movies by June of this year and will only offer Blu-ray movies/players, upconverters, and SD-DVD movies/players. Hopefully Blu-Ray will get on the ball and release a good, inexpensive SAL player.

I will give credit to Toshiba for taking themselves off life support, but they should have pulled the plug a long time ago as it was obvious they were not going to win.

The best thing that could happen is Universal and Paramount to not hesitate at all and immediately transfer their high def movies to Blu-ray asap.

Controller doesn't count as that changes for everyone.

ME has already gone to PC and ME 2 and 3 might go PS3. I'm sure EA wants to.

And Halo... Halo was just disappointing for me anyway.

Things are changing in PS land for the better and it should be a huge year for them. And starting off the year with a win over HD-DVD was huge.

I really doubt this will happen. Sony has been pushing their PS3 as their premium BR player ever since the start of their crusade.

You may get a price drop but I'm sure Sony wants it as "If you want to go BR and spend the least amount of money, you get a PS3."

Anyone know when is the next price drop happening for the PS3? Or have any predictions when it might happen? Also, is the PS3 Blu-ray player the best one out there?
