Except I made the mistake of going into the forums at that site and I got to observe the pissing contest going on in there first hand. I'm sorry, but some of those people are defending their formats like their mothers. I know, as a forum addict here that it's pot calling the kettle black, but man those cats need to get a life.

That's all AVS, HDD, and Blu-ray's forums are good for, in terms of these formats. Bargains, and where to find imports. We have a small circle here who post both in this thread, so even then, you may not have to venture too far.
I agree with Slayer, I would especially stay away from the Smackdown forums. Those have to be some of the worst threads that someone could sit through and read, ever. Its funny, 1 person will come up with a fact about their format and then people from the opposing format jump in discrediting the facts. It is a mess, I just look at the individual format threads for software/hardware, the bargain threads, and FS/FT threads. I try to stay away from Smackdown: Blu vs. HD-DVD because you will get mad.

Venturer HD DVD Player Surfaces at Wal-Mart

The long-anticipated budget HD DVD player from Venturer has finally arrived, and is being sold by Wal-Mart for $199.

Back when it was first announced in late August, Venturer's SHD7000 player had been expected to break low-price records this holiday season, but with Toshiba's entry-level HD DVD players being sold for as little as $99 earlier this month (also at Wal-Mart), Venturer's HD DVD launch has lost a bit of its thunder.

Still, with Wal-Mart carrying the player, there's no telling how many Christmas shoppers may be wooed by its low price. (At press time, the retail giant was offering the player at select stores and online for $199.)

According to early reports, the player is functionally identical to Toshiba's HA-A3 HD DVD player, offering 1080i video output via HDMI and Dolby TrueHD support.

Well, it's official, Independence Day has been delayed until March '08

Also, the review is up for the 3rd Pirates. Audio 5*'s, video only 4*s, said it's not as good as the previous two.

Yeah, ID was delayed which sucks. Let's see if it makes it next March. LOL!

I'm hearing rumor about the other 2 releases from FOX for next week, that there could be some delay for those too since they haven't shown up yet to distributors + no specs were announced either. If anything that could hurt Blu, its freakin' FOX.

What releases are those? I don't even see any Fox releases on the schedule for next week.

EDIT-nevermind, I see Cast Away on there.

Not for HD or blu, but deepdiscount.com is having another huge sale. Buy 1 Get 1 Free on Fox/MGM DVD's all with free shipping that is generally much faster than what they state on the site.

Tons of TV sets like Arrested Development, The Shield, Bones, My Name is Earl, MASH, American Dad, Family Guy, 24, Buffy, Futurama, In Living Color, King of the Hill, etc etc.

I picked up Seasons 2 and 3 of Arrested Development since people keep telling me how great it was. It was $27.xx total. Checkout code is : BOGOFOXMGM

Yeah, it was both of those. MGM, Weinstein and FOX are the 3 worst studios to enter the Hi Def DVD market. 2 of them announce titles and then cancel them, while the other one has no clue if it wants to go neutral so they stop releasing any titles now for 8 months. Talk about goofy, especially Weinstein....what are they waiting for, either release it on both or choose the format you want already.

Just got the following HD DVDs for $136 shipped (ebay)
                      1-MEET THE PARENTS
                      2-THE MUMMY
                      3-THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS
                      4-VAN HELSING
                      5-DUNE
                      6-NACHO LIBRE
                      7-THE NUTTY PROFESSOR
8-THE NUTTY PROFESSOR II THE KLUMPS
                      9-THE DEPARTED
                      10-12 MONKEYS
                      11-HD SCAPE EXOTIC SALTWATER AQUARIUM
                      12-HD SCAPE FIREPLACE

14-HD SCAPE VISIONS OF THE SEA

I was mostly considering that all of them are brand new and 1-10 could easily go back on ebay and pull in more than the $12/each that i paid.

That is really good, prices on ebay for HD-DVD and BD have plummeted these last few weeks.

So many sealed movies of both formats, its not even funny. I bet it was people that bought the B2G1 or B1G1 sales and tossing these up.

I was just browsing ebay to see if there were any decent deals on Live Free or Die Hard and found the entire sealed Die Hard Collection on Bluray for only $59.99 with $2 shipping. And since I had $40+ already in my Paypal account, I only paid $18 out of pocket. Needless to say, it's not for sale anymore
